Camp Pendelton 10 K Mud Run June 9, 2007!

mud02.jpg

It is time for CFO athletes to take the world famous Mud Run by storm! Registration opens Jan 1, 2007 and will be sold out quickly, so in order to secure our spaces we need a confirmation of CFO members that are going to participate. Once we have a head count we can form teams (5 people each) and then choose Team Captains. Team Captains will be responsible for making sure that everyone in their group is registered--all team members have to register together. Registration is $50 a person.

The Mud Run is a challenging 10K run with hills, tire obstacles, river crossings, two 5-foot walls with mud on both sides, tunnel crawl, slippery hill climb, and the final 30-foot mud pit. All team members must cross the finish line together!

We will provide information about training and coordinate meetings to help all CFO athletes prepare for June 9th...

Post today if you intend to take part--then we can choose captains!

We are also going to need a t-shirt representing CFO, any graphic designers willing to take a stab at it?

Count me in.

I'm in.

I'm in (and glad that I have time to get ready for it!)!!

Jonathan doesn't think he'll do it. Has anyone at CFO done it and could maybe give him some encouragment? What's it really like?

Thanks! Happy Sunday:)

my guess: like FGB on steroids...

Posted by: Nicole Okumu at December 24, 2006 8:36 PM

I'll do it.

I'm in, sorry I didn't post yesterday, but this is the first time I've seen the post.

I'm in, too.

As to the race, my guess is that it will be long and boring for the most part, with brief interludes of lots of fun (e.g., obstacle course, wall climbing, slipping around in the mud, etc.).

Sam, how was the Bay Area affiliate workout?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Hope everyone has a great day, even if you don't celebrate Christmas.

The affiliate workout was lots of fun, it was a team effort with the teams racing to finish flipping a truck tire to the end of the parking lot and doing 170 thrusters and 170 pullups, then an L-sit war. They said the next one is going to be at CFO.

Here's a picture of Sam...ummm...doing something at the Bay Area affiliate workout:

Thanks for representing CFO, Sam!

C'mon Candace and Annie, we need some more women folk participating--how will we ever get that Lululemon sponsorship?

Also, Robyn, a new CrossFit Oaktown member participated in the Mud Run last year, she will be a wealth of information for us newbies!

Posted by: Nicole Okumu at December 25, 2006 6:30 PM

I'm in as well.

ATTENTION MUD RACERS:

We have 9 people;

Sam
Tim
Mike
Max
Leo
Chad
Ann
Franklin
Nicole

Please send me your vote for two Team Captains directly:

nicoleokumu@yahoo.com

AND, please give me a check for $50 before Jan 1st and I will register everyone.

I will pay for slot 10 in case we get some last minute takers...

p.s. who wants to do this with boots and utility pants?

Posted by: Nicole Okumu at December 26, 2006 8:31 AM

EV will take the 10th slot.

Posted by: Maximus at December 26, 2006 10:24 AM

Just spoke with Annie...she wants to do it as well. We may need to think about 3 teams, since others like Candace and Jenny could be talked into participating as well.

Posted by: Mike Minium at December 26, 2006 11:48 AM

And what's this about Jonathan not doing it??

Posted by: Maximus at December 26, 2006 6:36 PM

With all due respect...Jonathan, you really can't seriously think that we'll allow you not to do this--w/o a lot of serious ribbing. We will get to you...MWAH-HA-HA-HA....!

I've confirmed Candace is on board, too.

I also spoke with Bill earlier today, and as long as his knee is in good condition come June, he and one friend of his from LA will be joining us, too.

That takes the total up to 14.

I would like to do it as well. I have a friend from Sothern Cal who wants to participate. Another friend has done it many times. He is a former SEAL and is more than happy to support us with ideas. He does crossfit in San Jose with some former USAF PJs, but "no longer runs."

Best wishes,

Bill
