Charles Flips Out at CrossFit Oakland

Today Charles all of a sudden felt like trying a back tuck, even though he hadn't tried one since high school (ten years ago).

It's not the prettiest thing but he gets the job done.

Now if he can just get some lessons from Shira...

Getting Old Ain't So Bad After All

the outer perimeter of your comfort zone-the only way to get better at anything! Nice Flip Charles...

My idol at CF HQ: The 73 year old woman wearing a t-shirt that said "infidel" who could do rope climbs with no no feet!

Oh, and an aside. Zone yummies for spinach lovers...
1 box frozen organic spinach defrost
fry in EVOO with shallot and green onion until all water evaporates and spinach starts to brown
1 tbs red pepper flakes
add 2 eggs directly into pan, stir and scramble
add salt
1 oz French feta at the very end

what the hell is an EVOO?

C'mon, Jonathan...

I guess you haven't been hanging around with us enough.

EVOO = Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Nicole, is that a 3-block meal?

Would anyone be interested in taking CFO to Santa Cruz sometime in the near future? Field trip!!

Max, which gym did you mention we should try while we're in LA?

I think charles looks pretty great. Maybe we could have class that focuses on back flips... that sounds fun.

(Wearing my FGB matchmaker hat...)

Tim and Leo,

We'd be happy to run you through FGB on Friday (as well as anyone else who wants in on FGB).

Please respond here in Comments and come to an agreement on a time when you can both do the workout together.

It's much better having someone alongside you pushing you (or feeling the pain with you).

I pitched this idea to Scott first, since he and I have done international travel on no budget.

The Crossfit Crosscountry: From San Diego to New York hitting as many Crossfit affiliates and garage gyms as possible across a two week span. Maybe we could kick the whole trip off with the mud run.

For this to work we're going to need some sort of interesting mode of transport, like a hearse.

I'm in for the mud run. When is it? We should have a couple of teams. Has anyone done it? How ridiculous is it?

Posted by: Ann Kelly at December 21, 2006 2:02 PM

Ann,

It's not bad at all. See:

Seriously, though, the teams are limited to 5 people so we need to find out how many are interested. Just by a casual asking-around at CFO I'm guessing we'll be putting together at least 2 teams.

The dates are June 9, 10, or 16.

Details are here:

We want to do the World Famous Mud Run.

But we have to get on it. Registration opens up January 1. In fact, look for a post in the next couple of days asking for people to commit to participating so that we can get an accurate headcount.

I also like Chad's idea; I'm certainly on board with doing a CF XCountry trip. And the hearse, given CF's dark humor, is definitely appropriate. We could spraypaint it with some custom CFO logos and such.

YES. crossfit cross country sounds awesome. now if I can coordinate a MYOTONIA tour around it, my life would be complete!

just did "elizabeth" like 10 minutes ago in my apartment. I had to sub 2 @ 1.5P kettlebells for the cleans (thanks CFO for letting me borrow yours), but I did ring dips for the first time in a real workout.

11:07

last time i did 115# cleans and normal bar dips and got 17:06. this time the cleans were lighter (106#), but slighly more awkward. ring dips are insanely harder than normal dips. i guess that's an improvement.

Looks Leo is AWOL.

I'll be there at 8.
