New Stuff!

This place is really starting to look like a CrossFit gym.
The top photo is a picture of one of our two new showers (and the water even works, as you can see).
The bottom photo is a picture of one of our five new IronMind Vulcan Racks. These racks rule! They can be expanded wide enough to hold the bar outside the collars so that those of you long-limbed types with wide overhead squat grips can rack the bar without worrying about mashing your hands.
Post to Comments anything else we should add to the gym.

it would be awesome if you got one thick handled barbell. more kettlebells, some kind of rack that will allow you to start the squat from the bottom position. more ropes. on-site full time masseuse and/or chiropractor! hah!
when's the tire showing up? oh, some kind of bungee cord and harness to do sprints against would be rad, too.

We ordered a spotter stand with the racks. It'll allow you to start as deep as you want in the bottom of the squat.

Some sort of adjustable high jump thing for jumping over
Rope Ladder
Heavy Bag
Firing range

Some sort of contraption to let you do assisted HSPUs. The shoulder press sub just doesn't come close.
Add a bayonet training dummy to the firing range.

I know crash pads are on the list. We have so much equipment already! Let's play with that for a while (ie don't worry about getting more "stuff")!

We will have several large tires by next Tuesday.

BTW I have a request: I have a CrossFitt-y portable music system in mind, which would consist of speaker/car amp/ car battery/simple pre-amp ipod connector.
If anyone has any of the following to donate we would appreciate it:
Large speaker working or not, the bigger the better
Car amp
Car battery
Car pre-amp
Old iPod, working or not
12V to DC two-way converter

oh, a peg board would be cool. and some big, awkward heavy objects for lifting, like sandbags, anvils, kegs, atlas stones... heavier dumbells for farmer's walk.
Max, i have a first-gen. iPod that works fine that I may be willing to part with in return for a discount on some classes :) It holds 5Gb of music.

Re: showers
The water pressure is good. Beware, once you get in, you won't want to get out.
Don't forget to bring a towel (imagine "towley" voice from South Park)--but really, cuz I used the chalky orange one that is now in the bathroom. Eeeew, for me and for those that have used it to dry their hands off since I used it.
Double eeew!!!

Yay! Everything is so fancy shmancy now! I have no idea what other things CFO might need - I'm still trying to learn the names of everything. Oh, except maybe a clock on the wall so that I don't have to keep running over and checking my cell phone. ;-)
P.S. Nicole, I forgot to have you show me the exercise that will help me do a real push-up. I'll try to remember on Friday...

Maren,
Great to see you're back. Hope you enjoy the new and improved CrossFit. Wish I was still there to participate in all the changes.

I can't wait for the group shower...when is that class?
Posted by: Tamara Holmes at February 14, 2007 2:16 PM
Hey Jim!
Good to hear from you. It's been a while. It's funny, I was just telling Nicole today how long it took me during your Boot Camp to be able to do ONE real, no cheating, chest-to-the-ground push up. (I still can't do them, some things never change).
I love Crossfit, but since I'm new, it's really HARD. It might be harder than Boot Camp, well actually they are both hard in a different way (I'll never forget that Joaquin Miller run as long as I live, dear lord!).
I still whine and complain about everything like I did in Boot Camp. I'm known to say, "This is my most unfavorite" about pretty much every exercise. But it will be fun to see myself get stronger as time goes on. I actually did 50 box jumps the other day which was big for me because I was too scared to do them in the beginning.
You should come in and work out with us sometime, the new place is so cool!

Max, I have a car battery someone left in front of my house. I don't know it it's got juice, but I'll bring it Saturday if you like.
