Got Mike?
We went out with Mike for his Birthday to Bittersweet Chocolate Cafe. Mmm.
If you are going to go, be sure to have a drink with lots of milk. Milk (unsurprisingly) has been shown to encourage twice the muscle growth as soy milk. Article by Captain Obvious below.
In other news our own Ann Kelly Has a SECRET TALENT!!

In other news (not to steal Mike's thunder, but...) my band is playing this thursday night at the Oakland Uptown. If you've never been there, it might be the coolest new thing to happen in Oakland in a while. And, this might be the best time to come check out my band, cause even if you hate us, the bar's in a separate room from the music! And it's only $5, and it's super close, and my band is actually good if you're into heavy music. Details, a goofy photo and music here

Hope to see you there.

OMG!!
OK, I'm over it.
I got 8 rounds plus 2 pull ups on "Cindy" yesterday. It was rough but my kipping is getting stronger. I'm going to post my workout results to the site. We used to do that. I'd love to see others results and comments.

In the spirit of workout disclosure, I'll post what I did today.
Today, since it was a rest day for me, I didn't actually do too much. I've recently been working on kipping pull-ups and double-unders on my off days (the days I don't do Oly lifting), and getting them back up to snuff.
I didn't do any double-unders today (I'll probably do some later this evening) but I did some max sets of pull-ups.
I started with a set of 46, followed by 35, and then followed by 20 (major grip failure). My forearms were as hard as a rock afterwards.
So nothing major for me today--just some nice active rest.
My goal for kipping pull-ups is to be able to get 60 in approximately 2 months time.
And Jonathan, please steal away my thunder (and I think I can actually make the show this Thursday--hopefully I can corral a few others from CFO).
And thanks to all of you for taking me to Bittersweet. It was a great way to start my 35th!
(Yes, I've bumped up into the next age demographic.)

3 rounds:
400 M
15 suitcase deadlifts 50#
10 Dumbell swing 50#
9:38
Apparently the sdls could have been a bit cleaner.
35 push-ups
8 pull-ups (down from my max of 28, how humiliating)
2 min static elbow hold

I think you should call your band "Ann-atonia!"
Thanks for sharing the secrets of your success and the decadence of that crackhouse, I mean "Chocolate Cafe," Ann. We thank (ahem--curse) you for the newest place to fill up on the highly addictive substance.

Max - nice work, 9:38 is awesome!
I did today's workout in 14:18 or so...bad memory for times but that sounds about right.
Substituted 400m row for 400m run, 50 lb suitcase dl, and 53 lb (is that 2 pood?) KB swing.
Casey and I took Mike climbing tonight at Ironworks.
That guy rocks! He did a 5.10a with no falls!!
(For those who don't climb, 5.10 is pretty hard, some people take years to do a 5.10 and very few can climb that hard their first time.)

Way to go, Mike. I want to see all you climbers in action!

Milk encourages muscle growth?
This study was funded by the U.S. Dairy Council? Is that conclusion surprising?
