We're Taking it Outside!

outside.jpg

In honor of the warmer days of summer, we're taking it outside on Saturday, May 12th for both the 9 am and 10 am classes. Meet at the pull-up bars across from Gold's Gym on Lakeshore for some sweaty fun in the sun!

Anyone have a volleyball net? Hoover Ball in our future...

Should we bring some of our own equipment (i.e. jump rope, kettlebells)? Is anyone interested in running the lake before or after? :)

Ann et al, yes bring any and all equipment and we will play.

Today's WOD was Push Press 3x3x3x3x3x3x3. I need to work on my technique. I need to work on driving with my legs. Also, I prefer the split jerk to get the bar overhead. I would really like to work on the oly lifts more! Thanks to Mike, Nicole, and Max for all of the help so far!!

Ann,

Your SJ technique is solid, so your comment doesn't surprise me.

Getting some lifting-appropriate shoes (anything with a hard, flat sole) will go a long way toward improving your SJ. Barefoot is good (better than squishy running shoes), but when you gotta have fast feet (and heels) against the hard wood surface, it can hurt.

I bet you can add 10 lbs if you just wear some non-running shoes that you can slam your feet in.

How do I work on my squat so that I keep my form at the very bottom? I'd really like to work on that, very unattractive.

If I order the shoes online that I have heard you and Nicole talk about, are the sizes comparable to regular shoes?

Posted by: Ann Kelly at May 1, 2007 2:59 PM

They matched my Adidas size exactly.

What is the brand of lifting shoe you suggest and where can I purchase them? I'd like to start working the oly lifting program that Coach Schmitz outlines in his workbook.
