hey, i did the 10K yesterday in 52:10, or 8:25 per mile. i did not feel very smooth, but did manage to grunt my way two times around lake merritt. regarding the question of whether running fitness is fitness, my opinion is that it is. it's certainly different from what we do in crossfit, and i think it's possible to balance the two if running is one's preferred athletic activity. it always surprises me that weekend runners and cyclists try to train like world-class specialists. crossfit has changed my perspective on running, and i'm definitely faster in the short distances. i'm interested in seeing if i can retain the ability to run smoothly and comfortably and still get to 2xBW deadlift!
