Good Luck Oysters!

Tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn, six dedicated and tough CrossFitters are heading to Crissy Field to embark on an 8-hour urban race adventure. Mike, Sam, Connie, Evelyn, Jeralee and Max, good luck--kick some a** and have fun! Props for making it this far!

The Oyster was the dumbest thing. Ever. Well maybe "Batman and Robin" with Arnie as Mr. Freeze was dumber... NAH!
Stay tuned for major rants. I'll tell you when and where.
In honor of the Oyster, tomorrow's WOD will be: run to North Berkeley BART, ride BART to West Oakland, pick up a fork from the hot dog stand, run back to CFO, do 20 knee push-ups... etc ... etc ... etc. Get the idea. Long, slow, boring, skill-less, tedious, unimaginative, anyway...

Well. Congratulations anyway. Did you guys win?

maybe we should devise our own CFO oyster type race? Maybe set up a course in Tilden or Sibley park....
Carry a log, or that kind of thing. Maybe do the St. Mary's College outdoor course...

I think CFO coming up with/sponsoring such a race would be great.
Idea one: run 800 meters, climb a 50 foot cargo net and retrieve a bulky object: run 800 meters to next checkpoint.

Congrats all!
MAX sounds like you need a stiff drink!

idea two: 20 mile ruck march with 75lbs in combat boots...

What the six seemed to concur on:
The event was uneccesarily long-which is the antithesis to the CrossFit "short intense workouts" motto.
Public transportation should not have been a part of this, even if it spoke to the cause (Transportation and Land Use Coalition--TALC--yep, the acronym is wrong...should be TLUC--but it's not as catchy, I guess...)
Hot damn, the Oyster Race folks could probably sell water to ducks. Expectations of what the race might have been were....well...not met.
A huge thank you to Nicole, Tom and Melissa who suffered through many hours of sitting/standing/loitering around in the cold and fog.
Also, a huge thank you to Jeralee for coming down from Seattle and maintaing a positive attitude throughout, despite the disintegration of everyone's spirits. Hell, you know when Mike is bitching and moaning that things have got to be pretty bad...
We should definitely organize something else and/or find something else--it doesn't even have to be a race!

Happy Birthday Tim!
You should do a Birthday Challenge! I'm turning 35 on Oct 31, so I will be putting mine together in the next couple weeks. I did it at 30 and it was a blast. I think I've recovered/forgotten enough to do it again.

Wow, I'm glad I went climbing instead of oyster racing...sounds like it was a big let-down...sorry to hear that.
