A Paleo Breakfast
Some berry-meal, a meat-and-veggie scramble, and a double Americano
I'm not joining the paleo club that has suddenly popped up here at CFO, but I do realize the value of such a way of eating.
And it's not nearly as hard to make happen as one might think. I put this together in about 10 minutes.
It comes to 4 blocks of carbohydrate and protein, 16 blocks of fat.
What looks to be hot cereal on the top left is a combination of berries, a mixture of almond meal and flax meal, and water. And boy is it delicious!
The scramble is comprised of Trader Joe's Greens with Envy, ground turkey, and eggs.
And hopefully you already know what an Americano is!
Post your favorite paleolithic food and your favorite neolithic food to comments.

16 blocks of fat, really?
Not hardcore enough to do the paleo thing, but I loves me some Americanos.

Favorite paleo food: prosciutto-wrapped baby carrots with a side of raw almonds
Favorite neo food: prosciutto and gruyere on toasted ciabatta roll
The paleo lifestyle really does work. Inspired by Art De Vany (see blog links), I gave it a half-assed try. It's mostly paleo during the day but at home I try to eat mostly what my family is eating, avoiding starches when possible.
The bottom line is that even a half-assed paleo worked for me when combined with CF intense workouts, averaging 3 times a week:
Before HAP (May 2006): BW 193#, Cholesterol 246, LDL 171, mild hypertension. So full on metabolic syndrome although I was fit enough to run the Dipsea (7 1/2 miles) in 1h30'.
After HAP (Nov 2007): BW 169#, Cholesterol 206, LDL 128, BP normal. I haven't run anything longer than a 5k since.
The only hardship for me was cutting back the bread intake - my favorite food. But worth it.

My favorite neo food, other than chocolate, is right along the same lines as Carlo.
Trader Joe's has this awesome flatbread pizza with ham, gruyere, and caramelized onions. It's so yummy and because the carb content is so low the whole pizza is only 5 blocks of carb and protein! No better way to satisfy the neo jones I get from time to time...

My favorite Paleo food is vanilla ice cream. The most recent advance of glaciers into lower latitudes was about 10,000 years ago. What did that mean for our Paleolithic progenitors? You guessed it: slurpies and vanilla ice cream. Lots of vanilla ice cream
One semi-serious question: Are those soy beans in that scramble up there? I thought that Paleo diets didn't have beans in them. I recommend replacing those beans with vanilla ice cream for a more Paleo-correct meal.
I think we need Cave Connie to weigh in on these important issues.

I should have known that you were on top of this. Never again will I doubt.
Here's to a really painful Helen in a few hours.
