CrossFit Games July 5-6

We'd love to get a team from CFO together for the CrossFit Games this summer.
The Games run over two days, July 5 & July 6. The more, the better (men and women).
Post to comments if you'd like to participate as part of a CFO team.

I'm in. Last year I went down to watch and support(I was nursing an injury). If you love crossfit you will love the atmosphere of the games. There were people of all abilities participating and gettin' some. However, I think some of our women could score top ten with ease.

Count me in.

I would love to come observe and lend a handy hand where needed (like running for coffee and zone snacks-towels and water bottles)--and of course cheering on the likes of Tamara and Lau, our superstars at CFO. If I have some kind of major breakthroughs and am w/in time line to sign up, I'll certainly let you know. Those folks just look so damn strong and fit!!! It's a bit scary.

I'm definitely in!! Gotta represent CFO and the ladies :)

Come on Ev we could use everyone! Although I wouldn't mind cheerleading for Mike & Brandon :)

What are the events again? Do we do all events or is this like track and field?
On another note--a longish note:
My dad is a disabled vietnam vet who is nearing 60. In addition to sustaining nearly fatal combat wounds, he was sprayed with Agent Orange. Agent Orange is an herbicide that causes all sorts of diseases, including diabetes and cancer. Veterans with Agent Orange related diabetes have a very hard time controlling it because their condition is constantly deteriorating. Anyhow, I read about all the antiinflammatory stuff from the zone and encouraged my dad to try it. He is doing the eyeball method... For the first time in ten years, he has gone down on his insulin and is having an easier time walking! I am so happy! I really thought I was going to lose him pretty soon because of the milestones in his health and I was so worried about the quality of his life! Thank you, Mike and Nicole and everyone. I hope he sticks with it and, if you don't mind, will continue to report his progress. Dad is a big fan of the zone blogs--he just does not post!!! So give a shout out to Frank!

Couple things, first of all the Games...I'm in. I enjoyed Mike yelling at me yesterday during the Filthy saying, "This is just training for the games!!!" Good motivation, and a nice solid new goal to work towards at CFO. Mike, I was serious about the mile runs up Marin, they're an old favorite of mine and anyone who wants in, just let me know.
LB, don't know who you are, but I'd love to have a conversation with you. Very similar situation with my dad.

I want to do it... I am not sure what my capacity will be by then but it will give me something to train for.

LB, I'm rooting for your dad. Amazing what a good diet can do! My mom has hypertension, diabetes and recently underwent hip surgery. I have cooked for her, grocery shopped for her and talked to her about diet. It's tough because she clings to food for comfort. I try to emphasize that she doesn't (and shouldn't) eat bunny food or starve herself, but rather that she can eat wholesome and delicious food that is good for her.

LB - best wishes and thoughts for your father.

holy blazing cowbells! I just saw Max's time....

A shout out to Laura's father from me as well. I'm glad to hear he's doing so well.
Ev, Ev, Ev...remember when you shared similar concerns over the Mud Run?! And look what happened: piece of cake. Don't sell yourself short!
We have a good 6 months to ramp up for this.
I'm totally into this and will be everyone's personal cheerleader for the next 6 months, minus the cute skirt and pom-poms (that'd probably scare everyone away, actually). I want as many people to go and soak up the experience as possible.
It's finally an event that we're doing that's made exactly for CrossFitters! None of that triathlon-in-disguise hokum!

Like Candace, I'm down, but not sure at what capacity. Casey, you'd love my new boots! ;-)

Patrick - I'm definitely down for the mile run up Marin! Just don't dust me too bad!!
Posted by: Audra at January 16, 2008 3:17 PM
You're a great cheerleader, Mike. Perhaps you can try the skirt and pompoms next Halloween? Better start working on some larger pectoral muscles too. But seriously, how do we find out what the events are and if you can pick and choose?
Brad: regarding Max's time, sometimes micro-managing pays off. He's the master of reverse engineering for a desired outcome. A small touch of OCD, methinks ;)
re: new boots. Melissa, did you have surgery already??? And if so, do you have any good drugs? (just kidding) How do you feel?

I'm in!

> how do we find out what the events are and if you can pick and choose?
Hola Ev,
You cannot do either. They pick the workout out of a hopper and you do it as best you can. Last year they also had a run and a CrossFit total, although that might change a bit this year. I imagine a run of some undisclosed distance (probably about 5K) and some sort of strength lift will be included.

Actually, you can probably do whatever you want, although no one will know the workout until the day of the event. However, if I were paying $75 to suffer, I would want to get my money's worth out of the deal. :)

July 4 temps...
02 03 04 05 06 07
66 78 69 69 72 77 Watsonville
67 74 68 69 66 74 Salinas
(Farenheit) from the Old Farmer's Almanac
Anyone from last year have an on-site temp? (Looks warm from the pics and video)
Posted by: Scott at January 16, 2008 6:18 PM
If I achieve a sub 3 minute Fran time by July 4, I will be on the scene in lovely Aromas, California.

Sorry CFO, but I will need Ev for Team CFEB. If I can get her other skills to the level of her DL (225 @ bw of 118) which is pushing into elite territory, she will be scary. I believe she will astound.
Posted by: Maximus @ CF East Bay at January 16, 2008 9:28 PM
If you take her Max we will be forced to have our secret weapons (Audra & Annie) open a can on everyone. Don't force us to play dirty, we want everyone to have a chance.

In all fairness, it's one big happy, sweaty and filthy family at the end of the day. I'll cheer for one and all and I'll certainly work my ass off, if I compete. I'm stoked to see the female interest and turnout in all things CrossFit. Sure, we're outnumbered, but we're present and workin'!!!
