DJ YOU!

Thanks to many of you (mostly Maximus) we have slowly gathered a library of tunes to conduct WODs to, however, that library is becoming stale and now we're looking to you all for some help! Let it be known, in this public forum we are asking for suggestions, but will gladly accept, load, and play any CDs burned for our library. Thank you CF'ers!
In comments please post playlists for one intense met-con, a la Helen or Fran, and one for a 1rep max effort (backsquat/dl/sp./CFT..).

...I am worried about the impending barrage of metal cds by our metal head xfitters. So I am issuing a warning: for every metal cd played at the 6:00PM class (that means you Daniel!!!!) I will burn 3 cds of the saddest, tear-your-heart-out-and watch yourself bleed-emo music.
...you have been warned! Tom: do not test me--You may be tall but I am mean! I will take your six-foot-something, bike-riding, metal-heading butt down.
Happy New Year everyone! ;-)

i can handle metal, i guess, as long as there is no more 'gold digger' or billy joel or boston or anything off the easy listening playlist.
and you guys need speakers.

Please lord. Strike down all those that continue to make mashups. Smite them lord. Smite them.
Mashups= ruining two songs at once.

If everyone donates then we can have random mixes. Straight hip-hop or straight metal will get old, so let's be creative. Speakers also help. Thanks!

And so you should be.

I don't doubt it.

I think, perhaps, you need more metal in your diet. By your own admission, you are "mean." Perhaps your music choices are causing a buildup of frustration. I generally have a sunny disposition and I listen to metal. Therefore, metal = kindness, goodness, and an end to world hunger. If that's not an air-tight argument free of logical fallacies, I don't know what is. I know if I had to listen to emo on a daily basis, I would get mean, too. The answer, it would seem, is mo' metal.
I need to do a bit of ruminating to come up with some choice tunes that would be fun for all involved, Laura included.

How 'bout no music at all...
Three cheers for austerity! Hip hip hooray!

> How 'bout no music at all...
This would be more Paleolithically correct. I think we need Cave Connie to address this issue.
Note to Laura:
My previous comment was rich in irony. I, of course, don't believe you are mean. :) However, metal will cure world hunger.

We could do it by days.
Example:
Monday: Country
Tuesday: Gospel
Wednesday: Voice
Thursday: Easy Listening
Friday: Jazz
Saturday: Big Band
Sunday: Open mic
6:00pm will always be metal

- Alt Rock (anything angry w explicit lyrics)
- That mashup thing is really, really wrong
- Please, Mike, no more WWII era songs or dueling bangos

chad: word
daniel: you gonna do a poetry slam? or get in touch with your inner child and let out primal screams? i don't know about the open mic option.. karaoke for me has a 5-6 drink minimum.
mike: silence sucks but is better than mashups or easy listening.

ugh, I'm glad I'm not going to be around to hear Daniel's daily rotation. :)

my o my, you chil'n a gettin' fiesty! How bout punk? Just cut the crap and cut a middle path between metal and everything else and just play the Ramones.

Im down for pretty much anything as long as its upbeat. The metal and mashups were getting old though.
Music is all about perception though.I would have never thought that Evanescence would be good workout music, but after seeing the following vid, they are a staple in my IPOD.

Seems only fair that the slowpokes (like me!) should have more say in the music choice. We need more inspiration than someone like metal-head Daniel, who finishes a WOD so quickly that he probably doesn't even notice what kind of music is playing.
Daniel, if it involves double-unders, I'll give you metal. Otherwise, NO to more metal at 6pm!!

Tom's If-No-One-Else-Is-Listening Fran and Helen Mix:
Mouth For War - Pantera
Ironhead - Helmet
Refuse Resist - Sepultura
Freedom - Rage Against the Machine (for a cool-down, try not to vomit walk)
One rep workouts tend to be long affairs, so that's a tough call. An album's worth of material is more appropriate for such ventures. However, if I had to pick a song for performing only one rep, I would choose "Battery" by Metallica.
Some choice albums for lifting (excluding the albums that contain any of the songs previously mentioned):
Rosenrot - Rammstein (I don't speak German and perhaps that's for the best)
Metallica - Black Album
In Requiem - Paradise Lost
Low End Theory - Tribe Called Quest (for when I'm in a mellower mood)
Swansong - Carcass
5th, 7th, and 9th Symphonies - Beethoven (metal as only Ludwig could dish it out)
Don't worry, Laura. I'm not bringing any of this in to CrossFit. I enjoy these tunes, but fully realize that most others would not. It gives me no pleasure to annoy others with my music.
