Patrick Shows Some Pressing Prowess
We wanted to spotlight Patrick's shoulder press after yesterday's shoulder press/push press/push jerk workout. Patrick weighs in at 172# and managed to legitimately press 180# overhead. I think he has a real shot at hitting 200# by the end of the year.
Post props to Patrick for being the first CFO athlete to shoulder-press more than his bodyweight!

Congrats to Patrick for the awesome overhead press!
And congrats to Steven for his performance in the metcon wod tonight. I thought I had it but he smoked me! Definitely guilty of counting my chickens before they hatched...

Patrick it has been a pleasure watching you steadily climb on all your lifts :)
Clearly Steven has been sand bagging his workouts! As soon as there is a mention of the xfit games he "all of a sudden" pulls out a sub 3 Fran and now this!
Props to the two "sleepers" who come in quietly and then kill the workout. I'm still waiting for my metcon inner beast to come out!

Excellent job Beth for beating the metcon queens :)
Posted by: Tamara at February 26, 2008 10:04 PM
Pat- Impressive bud! You'll definately be the only one in shape at the Alumni Game!
Posted by: Austin at February 26, 2008 10:19 PM
haha thanks mike and tami...
although those squats of mine were questionable... ill add 30 seconds to my time for you. =p
great job everyone.

Awesome, Patrick!
I clearly need to do more metcon workouts. I suck at endurance events. Of course, it didn't help that I thought we were doing 50 back extensions. Lau wouldn't let me subtract 20 from my 2nd round, either :(
Posted by: Brad Greenlee at February 26, 2008 10:26 PM
No mercy Brad!!! haha. You should take it up with Lau though... He did the same thing earlier in the day and did less reps the following rounds, but dont tell him I told you that.

Forgot to say good job to Patrick... beast.
Posted by: steven at February 26, 2008 10:31 PM

Posted by: casey at February 26, 2008 10:38 PM
Beth and Steven kicked ass today!!! Good job!
Posted by: Laura at February 26, 2008 10:40 PM
Patrick - wow. Made it look easy too!
Posted by: Brad Gilliatt at February 26, 2008 11:24 PM
wow, patrick. really impressive...
Posted by: edgar at February 27, 2008 5:40 AM
Congrats Patrick. I was there and in awe watching all that weight being pressed over your head, then back to reality with my 45# bar.
Posted by: lance at February 27, 2008 5:47 AM
P - nice frickin' job! You continue to impress me!! It's really nice to have someone as hard working as you around :)
Beth and Steven - STUDS!!!!
Posted by: Audra at February 27, 2008 6:45 AM
Patrick! 200 by July!!! and Steven, now the cats out of the bag, imagine after we get those meals planed! CFO is going to kick butt at the Games if y'all keep it up! Liz, should we get your name on the board for CrossFit Games?
Lance, I believe that you are CF beast in training!
Posted by: Nicole Okumu at February 27, 2008 6:55 AM
Patrick,
You are a freak! That is very impressive...keep it up.
Lau,
Can you mark me down for one more whine, because I am stilled pissed about that workout.
Posted by: daniel at February 27, 2008 7:27 AM
Lance, no need to mock the use of the 45# bar - seriously now! I wasn't yet around to see the first man land on the moon, I wasn't around for Woodstock (for lack of a better reference), but I can proudly say I was present to witness the historical event that was Patrick lifting that gargantuan bar over his head. Ridiculous!
Posted by: lance at February 27, 2008 7:28 AM
that was my comment, not Lance's :)

Last nights highlight was watching Laura B and Beth battle it out. Laura finished only seconds behind Beth and both put everything they had into it. One of my favorite moments at CFO.
Brad, only in your metcon induced inebriation did you hear me say you had to do the remaining full sets. Steven, way to throw me under the bus without hesitation.

Damn it's getting hot in CFO these days-this place has been burning up!
Good thing we have all of these firefighters around.
Patrick- what the ?!@#$- you sure you aren't one of those guys in Heros?
Awesome work- you make it look like it wasn't even hard.

Also, Patrick got out the big box and did some good jumping (flying) the other day. What was really awesome was instead of chest-pounding afterwards, Patrick humbly punctuated his flying technique with a sheepish, but reflective "I did that?" look after each attempt. So heads up next time at the gym. You never know when Patrick will feel the need to get his flying on!
Well done on both accounts!

Let's see some individual side action (bets) for March Throwdown!
Lance and I have a 6pk of Pacifico vs Wine bet.
(I can't remember, is beer zone diet compliant?)

Patrick, you are the man. Great work.
For a little more inspiration - I just came across this video. Can you all imagine starting this young?

Thanks Lau! 6:00PM class rockes! Beth kicked my ass up and down the street last night--so sad!
Posted by: LB at February 27, 2008 11:02 AM
side bets huh??? hrmmmmm..........
So today I did practice on my whining so I can keep up with Daniel.

I think Tami wins the best CFO sound effects award again with all her grunting and groaning in the background.
Posted by: Mike Minium at February 27, 2008 2:11 PM
Major props to Patrick, very beastly!
Speaking of beasts, I must say that watching Edgar do "Eva" this morning really brought out the cave in me! Blood, sweat, tears and (vomit)didn't stop this firebreather from finishing the wod! Nicely done man! Oh and did I mention he did it at 6am? Xtra brownie points for that.
Posted by: cave connie at February 27, 2008 2:14 PM
Dang! With all these posts, forget the lifting, flying, pressing or CFO games. Patrick for president! Everybody's doing it!
Posted by: angela at February 27, 2008 2:57 PM
thank you for your kind words, connie. and kinder of you for not posting my time (hope you didn't get to work too late); which if posted, would make mockery of the true firebreathers (audra, steven, daniel, tamara, casey, brandon... people whose names are posted day in and day out). i, like many others, am just a wanna-be...
Posted by: edgar at February 27, 2008 4:59 PM
patrick and edgar, two new CFO standouts.
i told some of you i'd be there tomorrow at 6. not sure i'll make it at 6, as i'll be at the fu manchu show at slim's tonight. metal? moi? maybe i'll bump into some of you metalheads...

Posted by: Tamara at February 27, 2008 6:39 PM
