The Gateway Skill: Kipping Pull Up
On Thursday, February 21 at 8p.m. we will be having a Kipping Seminar designed to get those of you without kipping pull-ups on the path to having them and those of you who have them on the road to hyper-efficiency and decreased cycle time. The cost is $20--everyone is welcome as there will be something for everyone!
Post your biggest kipping frustration to comments.

my biggest problem is the grip...how do you do them without getting huge blisters in your hands? :)

so if I master the kipping pullup, I'll be able to jump over busses and stuff on a motorcycle?

Here are Evel Knievel's Six Golden Rules:
1) Try your best to stay healthy.
2 )You must believe in something greater than yourself, in god or a maker...but I do not believe in organized religion and it's the federal penitentiary for evangelists for stealing money from those who cannot think for themselves...It sickens me.
3) Find someone and love them as much as you can.
4) Get a job that you love to do and are not bored with.
5) Always do the right thing by your fellow man because it is simply the right thing to do.
6) Always follow your own dream, You may fall many times in life, but don't let it stop you.

The push away at the top is super frustrating. I can't seem to string more than two together without having to start over agian.

agreed with cave connie, the push out that keeps the momentum going is currently out of my grasp. also, when watching someone who does it well, it looks like a controlled movement. i definitely don't feel or look very controlled

You avoid blisters by letting your hands tear open and bleed. :)
If I knew how to avoid tearing, that would be awesome. There must be some way of doing it. Mike or Nicole recently posted a video of someone doing 60+ pullups in a row. Perhaps dipping my hands in molten steel would help, although there might be unpleasant side effects from that process.

Are you kidding me Tom? Blisters???
What is more important...having soft hands or getting two more pullups and ripping them to shreds so that they hurt for a week? I think the latter! Get your priorities straight!

i need like a trip kip like mike was doing last night... and fly my way off the bar each rep.

I think blisters are sweet! Plus, I like the way people look at me when they see my hands!

Daniel-san, you are wise indeed. I need to stop letting concern for the future get in the way of present performances. Very Zen, very Zen...

i also suffer from the push-off problem, and can't put together more than 2-3. when i watch the videos of the crossfit HQ folks, especially annie, she isn't doing much pushing off and swinging. but maybe you just have to be insanely strong to do it the way she does...
