Change to CFO Throwdown Scoring Rules

It's all about the numbers

After much feedback from all of you, and some deliberation on our part, we've changed the scoring system for the CFO Throwdown going on this March.

Points will be awarded per the following scheme:

* 5 points for first place
* 4 points for second place
* 3 points for third place
* 2 points for doing the workout as prescribed
* 1 point for completing the workout
* -5 points for missing the workout

Does this scheme mean that the winner of a workout receives a total of 8 points (5+2+1)?

Brandon, that time is absurd. I walked in today thinking I could do the workout, tried the deadlift, and had to walk out. First time in four months of crossfit not completing the WOD, at least in some way or another. I think I took more time taking the weights back off the bars than you did completing the workout...

Needless to say, Im in the negative.

No, I doubt it. You can't place without the Rx, and you can't get the Rx without showing up in the first place.

Brad suggested that 1 pt for showing up would encourage more participation, which I thought was a great idea. I suggested 2 pts for an Rx so that I can someday compare my total lack of Rx's to the awesome number I will rack up in Throwdown 2009. :)

Tamara - same here.

That workout killed me. I was so exhausted and out of it that I drove into my garage door when I got home.

I've never been to a 7pm class, but I might need those extra two hours to recover.

I don't know whats more impressive - Brandon's crazy time or you staying on the gas for almost an hour.

Today's WOD at CF San Diego: 5 rounds of 15 thrusters @ 95# + 800M run. 34:40. Oof.

Go Alec! Way to train for '09! I promised Lance I'd go to 6 am with him... I couldn't get out of bed. I do plan on making up the filthy 50 on Wednesday and doing it all as rx'd. Scary.

hey so is there still the rule that we have a 1 day grace period?

i have a huge bruise on my clavicle right now. it looks like someone took a baseball bat to it. and my shins.
and after all the KB swings from eva on sunday, my deadlifts yesterday were painful to do and more painful to watch. hey b after 13 minutes i think i was on my round of 9.

pretty amped about the filthy fifty.

Tam, Candice, Brad, Patrick et al., I haven't complained this much in a long time, but my five "angie" blisters are healing now...will only need gloves a few more days. I can't straighten my elbow from my brachioradialis muscle being too tight, is that a problem?? Push presses and KTE's might be hard...hope there is a sub for those. Yeah, I need the extra few hours to heal b4 the F50. I like the new scoring system...I may actually have a positive number! Though, there was something serenely singular about going for a perfect 'zero'. Tam, nice work yesteday. Steven, who are you, and where did you come from??!

As far as Steven's post about Test is Best...read this. It is how to naturally boost your testosterone levels. To paraphrase it; it basically says to do Crossfit and eat in the zone.

It's funny you mention that Tamara - Daniel, Marisa would like to challenge you to a round of Helen ;)

Brandon - Mad props, you absolutely killed that workout! I was just happy to finally finish almost an hour and a half later!

Casey - I know the feeling - I swear I was hit by a Mack truck! However, now that I've seen what Brad had to do in San Diego, Filthy doesn't look too bad.

I should note that my wanting to do the filthy 50 on Wed. is so not for points, it's really about not wanting to miss out on such a brutal workout. Surely I'm still going to be -5. I think the grace period is still 24 hours - if anything I did at Crossfit were for throwdown points, well, let's just say I'm happy to have my name on the dry-erase board at all.

did filthy 50 at home. had to sub:
-1.5P kettlebell swings x 34 reps (1x50 = 1.5x33.3)
-1.5P kettlebell push press x 43 reps
-straight leg dead lifts with 1.75P (28kg) kettlebell for back extensions
-"wall ball kettlebell sub" with 16kg kettlebell

33:09

damn. wanted to be under 30:00. had to go up and down a flight of stairs a couple of times in between certain exercises.

Good luck on Filthy 50 Sierra! It is hard to do and will be even harder to do on rest day! When are you coming in? Maybe we can round up some other folks to do it with you? It is always better with other people--misery loves company! ...of course I would volunteer to join you but I am not made of the stuff it would take to do that workout twice!
