shoulder press 1st! cut out of the round before the row a few seconds early to get set on time.

and by shoulder press, I, of course, meant push press.

My first FGB! Looking forward to it.

My score enhancing tip is to cheat!
I'm just kidding...I'm just going to go balls to the wall until I puke...and then repeat as necessary.
Posted by: daniel at March 18, 2008 7:28 PM
puke for time or puke for distance?
Posted by: steven at March 18, 2008 8:52 PM
I think he's going for max pukes
Posted by: Brad Greenlee at March 18, 2008 9:18 PM
Exercise is yucky.

Wow, that was brutal. Messed up my back. I think it was the box jumps. I could well be out for the rest of this cycle, if not longer. Hopefully tomorrow will be 10K, and I'll just walk/shuffle. Still, looking forward to doing it again sometime and seeing how much I can improve.

i don't recommend rowing first, but usually somebody has to. today, that was me. good workout, though. first time as fully rx'd for me. previously used 14# medicine ball and lighter SDHP and push press.
tamara absolutely killed it today. 321! nice, tamara.

yeah. tamara, you were awesome!!

Wallballs make me want to puke. I hate to admit this, but I'll take thrusters over them any day. Maybe I just don't like the giant ball. Or the fact that it has to go up so damn high. Nice work everyone!

Joe - why do you not recommend rowing first? I thought I was being all strategic by rowing first because it has the longest setup time (getting your feet strapped in). Then again, I'm wondering if going balls-out on my first row (27 cal) killed me for the rest of the workout.

Brad,
There are a couple of schools of thoughts, both of which have seen great results.
One school of thought is that you start so that your worst exercise will be last in the rotation. So then you'll have a full minute to recover from it.
The other school of thought is that you start with your best exercise so that you can maximize reps while fresh (at the start of the workout or after the 1-minute rest for rounds 2 and 3). And then you use your worst exercise as a means to recover and gear up for the other ones.
As I said, both approaches have yielded results.
For me, I go with the first approach, and since rowing is my worst exercise (the one I'm able to score the least amount of points on and the one that leaves me more tired than any other one), I start with wall ball so that I have a full minute to recover from rowing.

But Mike, I just want to know if you wore your special FGB ensemble today...
Posted by: angela at March 19, 2008 3:37 PM
I wore my green shorts because green is the color of bile.

Hey there... I sent an e-mail to info@crossfitoakland.com, but I'm not sure how often that gets checked. I'm going to be in your neighborhood next week (26-29 Mar) and I'd like to come do the WODs at your gym. Would that be possible? I'd be more than happy to pay a bit if necessary, and if possible I'd like to do an affiliate t-shirt exchange. Please let me know!

that was most unpleasant
when can we do it again?

chalk me down for a redo on saturday when I get to L.A.
for the first time my body let me down.

brad, i find that rowing first just gets me gassed. i did 20 calories the first round, and it was tough to go from that directly to wall ball. in the end, it probably doesn't matter much. better to have an objective for each exercise and not go too far beyond in round 1. it was so long since we had done it, i had no idea what i was going for.
by the way, scott, in his first FGB, just missed 250. a very solid effort.
