Nicole-
A regional CF throwdown sounds great! One thought is to not just have individual winners like the CF Games last year, but also be able to announce one of the locations as winner. This would allow a great opportunity for team building, but more importantly inter-crossfit shit talk. On a side note: from the feedback I've gotten from others I guess I over estimated Ice Chamber as worthy competitors. I guess I thought it would just be fun and easy for our straw to reach across and drink their milkshake since they were so close. I apologize, its clear this is not blasphemy or madness, but it is actually SPARTA!! Please accept my apology and not kick me in the chest.

Brandon-
Nice try attempting to simply have your name "withdrawn" from the man on man on man implications. However, it isn't as simple as just "withdrawing" your name. That would be like NY Governor Elliot Spitzer simply "withdrawing" his name from the prostitution scandal. Trust me, if you could just withdraw your name and all recoliction of the "activities" be forgotten, my parents and I would have never had that huge falling out, my dad would still claim me as his son and not "the one who moved to San Francisco" and my mom would still call me on my birthdays.

Laura-
It is now absolutely clear to me why you were kicked out of Ice Chamber. I am however confussed as to how you've managed not to get kicked out of CFO for so long. Truly talented!

I'm in as long as the WOD includes Tanning.

Also, I'm doing a Tanning clinic on April 26 from 12:30 to 8pm. Cost is $100, $75 for CFO members, or $50 for those who already have some semblance of pigmentation who are willing to demonstrate proper tanning technique for those of us who are more pigmentally challenged.

Hello all. I'm planning on doing a refresher-style seminar, with as much q&a as you like. My plan is covering the swing, one armed swing, snatch, clean, and time allowing, turkish getup. If people are into it, I can skip a couple things and focus on the turkish getup, but I definitely want to hammer the fundamentals of the swing.

I'm game for the "Local Affiliate Throwdown Hopper Style".
I don't know what hopper style is though???
Who are the challengers?

Dear "silent one",

I am lost without my journal. I will agree to your terms then kill you when I find out who you are!

place the head and wrist band in an envelope and leave on top of the metal lockers.

respond to my email address when this is complete and you'll have your book back.

When you say "hopper" do you really mean "HOPR" as in House of Prime Rib? If so, I am in!

> Also, I'm doing a Tanning clinic on April 26 from 12:30 to 8pm.

Finally, Alvin is putting on the tanning seminar! I, of course, will be there. Albert is a great instructor and I can't wait to learn the secrets of elite tanning.

Hope I'm not screwing up this message board by asking a question about exercise. In today's workout with Press, Push Press, and Push Jerk, I don't quite have the hang of dropping under the bar and locking out fast on the push jerk, so my push jerk weights are no higher than my push press. For you folks that have the push jerk, how much more weight can you get overhead that way than with the push press?

P.S. Robyn has an awesome push jerk, and she was able to do about 20% more than with push press.

Posted by: Joe P at April 8, 2008 3:32 PM

Joe P,
This isn't really a forum to discuss exercise...but I guess we can make an exception.

I think I can get around 20-25% more on my Push Jerk than I can on my push press.
I try to concentrate on being fast with my lower body on the jerk, as compared to the press where I just try to be strong. I don't really know much about this though...better ask Mike.

Posted by: daniel at April 8, 2008 3:58 PM

Joe,

On a rep-for-rep basis, those proficient in the push jerk can put up about 25%-30% more in the push jerk than they can in the push press.

The same holds true for the push press vs. the shoulder press (about 30% more).

In this workout, some of those percentages don't hold because of the increase in reps.

Laura-
Anything and everything bad you've ever said has been completely mitigated by Greenlee's Hopper Style. You've been restored to saint status whether you like it or not. You'll probably want to start working on changing that.

Brad-
Marvelous!

I hear Jonathan has become something of a Kettlebell Master, so it should be a great seminar, and you can't beat the price!

Plus, in a magnanimous gesture of both goodwill and cross-marketing, I'm going to offer my Secrets of Elite Tanning Seminar for FREE to all Kettlebell seminar attendees (and instructors)!
