Athlete Spotlight: Melissa A

Melissa hit a major PR the other day with her first dead-hang pull-up! A major milestone and the beginning of a new world of multiple reps, weighted and one-arm dreams and goals! Awesome work, Melissa, keep at it!

Uh oh....I've been spotlit. Thanks, Nicole! I don't want to downplay my excitement over my dead-hang, but I'd like to open this posting up to any accomplishments people have seen over the last few weeks (because I know I have seen a lot!).
I'll get it started: Kirsten also got her first dead-hang, but was probably lucky enough to escape from the gym before Nicole could take her picture. And lots of people got some impressive PR's with those weighted pull-ups: Loren, Jay, Theresa..... Oh, and Theresa passed her physical the other week....easily. Brian got an AWESOME deadlift last night. Robyn is looking pretty damn hot lately. Lucas has decided to get himself back into shape and has been doing a great job. Connie knocked a huge chunk of time off Angie. Omar killed those sprints last night. I'm sure the morning crew has some stories, too. And of course, I continue to be amazed my all the top-performers (you all know who you are).
A swimmer friend forwarded me a video of some two-fingered pull-ups (among other cool things) and thought I'd like it because he knows I'm into "weird workouts." I'm honored to be in this group of weirdos. Unfortunately, the video doesn't involve any Japanese girls in bikinis, but here's the url for anyone who's interested:

Sorry for writing a book....I think I need some sleep. See you guys tonight.

BTW, it's the "Auburn Weight Workout, Part 1 - April 19, 2008" video.

Melissa,
So modest as usual...another aspect of you that makes us so happy that you're a part of our community!
I'm sorry I missed the dead-hang but since they've all of a sudden become so de rigueur around the gym, I'm sure I'll see the next 100 or so that you knock out.
Congratulations!

Melissa-
Nice job on the dead hang pullup. That ain't easy!
Thanks for the video, the rope climbing on there was sweet.
I had no idea there were such a thing as videos without Asian chics in bikinis. Who knew!

Melissa,
way to go! You are awesome and I totally second what Mike said. It is always great to see you at the evening classes and you have made some amazing progress in the last year! keep up the great work!
And nice try trying to deflect the spotlight onto all the other weirdos, but this time it won't work - It is your turn to shine!

I just discovered symetrical bruising on the inside of my upper thighs. Wondered if it happened when I blacked out Wednesday nite.
But then remembered holding the 40# barbell there for the weighted pull-ups.
Actually had me nervous for a moment.

Brad that's perfect! You should keep doing weighted pullups on the days when we hang out at night, I can contine to use the hexagonal shaped dildo, and you can continue to lead your pretend life as a heterosexual married man.
There's really nothing to be "nervous" about.

Way to go Melissa! And Kirsten, too!

Great job Melissa! Must have been all that salsa dancing!
Nabil...I can't figure out if you are really funny or just seriously disturbed :)
