Athlete Spotlight: Robyn

Robyn, a 6a.m. regular and resident smack-talker is making some impressive gains lately! She's strong (190# backsquat/200#DL/30# Dead hang PU), lean (down 2 dress sizes since going from 13 to 11 blocks) and a consistent hard worker (just ask Vee or Joe P). We're looking forward to witnessing the gains and are psyched that Robyn is a part of the CFO community!
Robyn story-telling to comments.

And you have a great attitude, especially @ 6am! See you all in the morning ;)

Go Robyn!

I had the pleasure of meeting Robyn for the first time on Sunday. Sadly, we won't see much of each other as 6am usually finds me sitting on a BART train with my arms wrapped around a bicycle seat post, half asleep with my head on the saddle.
However, I think the fact that she shows up on 'rest day' ready to take on 'Angie' speaks volumes.
Go Robyn!

You go girl! I am super proud of you Robyn and stoked to see that your hard work is paying off! You put all those other Piedmont moms to shame!

Something tells me that if Robyn can squat 190 her deadlift would exceed 30 lbs. Perhaps Mike meant 230.
Congrats, Robyn. Those are impressive numbers.

Robyn is hot.

Robyn = strong and beautiful

WRT our discussion yesterday, I think we have unanymously nominated to put Robyn on the MILF list!
Awesome job, Robyn! Go girl!

We need to nominated Robyn for the gym's MILF list!
Awesome job, Robyn! Go girl!

Robyn...I show up @ 6am hoping for an autograph and you blow me off. I guess the "big league" attitude comes with the spotlight:)
Angela, who else is on the M.I.L.F list? Maybe they should come out with a calendar.

She kicks butt, she takes names, and she shares her coffee. Now THAT is a 6 AM workout partner.
Seriously-well-deserved recognition, Robyn. You are taking off like a rocket. Thanks for all the great workouts, and looking forward to more.

Robyn,
Congrats on your accomplishments and the fact that you are able to wake up and crossfit (that's a verb now) while the rest of us are still dreaming.
As for the MILF thing, I would LOVE to see a calendar! However, because there are only so many moms at CFO, we might have to come up with a few other acronym/categories to fill the twelve months. I, being the generous person I am, will start:
SLARFS - Skinniest legs and Ridiculously Fast Sprinter (Journey, Mike, Nabil,...who else?)
SYJOZN - Shrunk Your Junk On the Zone Diet (Tamara, Brad, Sierra, Laura, Nicole)
SMOOBZ - Shrunk my Man Boobs Zoning (Who out there is willing to admit this?)

Since Tamara's are hopelessly beyond reach, Robyn's big weights are the ones I aspire to lift, if I ever get really CrossFit...
Aside from her obvious CrossFit skills and great 6am energy, what I like about Robyn are her no-nonsense comments/attitude about parenting, plus the fact that she works in human resources, and she is SO not the stereotypical HR person I'm used to.

Robyn, like I said at the B-day dinner on Saturday...you're looking DAMN good! Keep up the hard work - it's clearly paying off :) I can only hope to be as strong as you!

Robyn, you are truly hot and awesome! Yesterday when I was feeling sorry for myself, struggling through ball slams, jump squats and ring dips and wanting to vomit, I looked over at you doing your 5 millionth handstand pushup (seriously!) and, inspired, decided to keep going even if it killed me. And it damn near did. Thanks for the 6am badassness!

Robyn, you clearly have it together. Congrats on your impressive achievements and inspiring so many of us. And cheers for knowing how to stand up to those Piedmont Moms!
** And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGELA!!! **

Robyn, you definitely put a whole new spin on my concept of the Piedmont Mom. Thank you for occasionally dropping by to inspire some of the later classes.
On a completely different topic, I found another in the "freaky painted people" video series. They're blue this time. I think this would be a great warm-up for the 6:00 a.m. crew: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/24

all of this "MILF" talk is making me uncomfortable.
Nabil - can you call me?
Posted by: brad gilliatt at April 30, 2008 2:58 PM
Brad-
We don't have to pretend. I'm in the next room over. Just walk your silly self back over here!
Posted by: Nabil at April 30, 2008 3:07 PM
Bill, you obviously haven't been paying attention. We 6 am'ers have Robyn - all we need to get the gym heated up...
Posted by: 6 AM Crew at April 30, 2008 3:08 PM
Bill -
That is a pretty cool video. From my interpretive dance background, I must say that performance has it all.
Birth, discovery, the daily tribulations between man and his environment, love, rejection, defeat, irony, joy, self-expression in a group context, pain, hope, turmoil, and a narrative which underscores the essence of Crossfit.
All of that and a well-endowed man made it very enjoyable.

Wow! I am speechless - a rare occasion indeed.
All I can say is thanks for all of the support, encouragement, coaching, suffering, starvation, painful injuries and most of all the feeling of empowerment I have gotten surviving a year of CF WOD's and social gatherings ;) Mike and Nicole - You have a great thing going and I am grateful to be a part of it.
Ladies of CFO - I worship you! You are the truest kind of WOMEN to me - beautiful (seriously how HOT can you get?), nurturing (I go 10 times faster when I hear your sweet voices yelling at me) and incredibly powerful (nobody better f*** with you girls)! Thanks for setting the bar so high and NOT being whiny, prissy, entitled bitches...
Gentlemen - Thank you for being so damn FINE! Yes you are strong and supportive and amazing athletes, blahblahblah... But seriously, do you think I come into the gym to lift weights, climb ropes and swing from bars? It is to ogle you all for an hour as you sweat, grunt and groan. Keep it up, boys!
Nabil/Brad - uh...
Ok, Ok, I will shut up now. I think I have exceeded my character quota...
