Throwdown Dinner Done Lance-Style

FEAST.jpg

We need to get a headcount for everyone who will be coming to our throwdown-inspired dinner that is happening on Sunday, April 13 at 4pm.

Fellow CFOer and cook Lance V has graciously offered up his services, and we've posted the menu below.

* Delta asparagus, piquillo pepper artichoke vinaigrette, basil salad
* Classic caesar
* Tortilla espanola, romesco sauce
* California artisan cheeses, seeded crisps, baguette, fruit
* Seared ahi tuna, salsa verde, olives
* Niman Ranch pork chili rojo, fried and steamed corn tortillas, guacamole

All CFOers, plus friends and family, are welcome to join us. We only ask that you bring a dessert or wine to share.

We'll also be awarding Daniel and Tamara for their first-place finishes in the CFO throwdown (don't worry if you don't know what this is).

If you plan on attending, say so in comments or email us at info@crossfitoakland.com. Also, if you plan on bringing any guests, let us know so we can get an accurate headcount.

And also post a big thank you to Lance for putting this whole thing on!

Menu looks great Lance, count me in.

I vote for an iron chef throwdown...

lance vs. loren

I will be the judge.

Posted by: steven at April 4, 2008 11:50 PM

Scott & I will be there.

I am very happy to bring a "to hell w/ the zone" dessert of some sort, for sure. But am also wondering about vino...should wine contributions also be a part of the plan?

We are going to be drowning in desserts if everybody brings them...which could be fun in a way, but perhaps a bit excessive, even for a cheat meal... :-)

Posted by: Sherrill & Scott at April 5, 2008 8:03 AM

I'll be there

and the 2nd Iron chef judge.

Posted by: Lau at April 5, 2008 8:22 AM

I'll be there, of course. Rojo is my favorite thing in the world - next to cupcakes and marzipan - two of the main reasons I come to Crossfit practically everyday. I think Sherrill's right, there may be a sweets overload, and if I know my fellow crossfitters, while some sweets will be appreciated it's most likely that most will go to waste if everyone brings them.

Dessert? How am I going to continue my ever-deeprer slide into the abyss of Zone dietary regimentation when I have to bring a dessert? I guess I could bring a plate of sauteed swiss chard for dessert.

I'm in. Where is it happening? CFO?

Posted by: TomC at April 5, 2008 9:17 AM

niman ranch!!!???

Posted by: annie at April 5, 2008 10:01 AM

Good suggestions, all.

I've changed my post so that you get the option of bringing dessert or wine now.

Annie, are you offering up Prather Ranch?

I can't pronounce many of the words from that list of foods being prepared, therefore it must be good. Count me in.

I'll bring the brownies... sorry, not those kind of brownies... they will be the ones without nuts.

Posted by: Nabil at April 5, 2008 1:01 PM

Reinette and I will be there with bells on our feet. Seriously, we wear bells on our feet to dinner.

Posted by: brad gilliatt at April 5, 2008 1:08 PM

oh and I forgot...

I'll be there + 1

Posted by: steven at April 5, 2008 3:06 PM

Michelle and I are in. Unlike Nabil, I will not be baking anything. I'll leave that to Michelle.

Posted by: Brandon B. at April 5, 2008 6:30 PM

Brandon I forgot, you are into much more manly things than baking.

Nabil,
I am not sure where you found that video of JP, but how did you have time to film this WOD demo with your FWB during the Throwdown?

Brandon,
I'll admit it. I have a thing for petite blondes. But the next time you and Daniel make a video I really think you should go with a different color scheme. The red and white just looks silly on you.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Everyone who knows me knows I like brunettes.

Posted by: jp at April 5, 2008 11:04 PM

I thought it good to mention that Lance is ordering for this event on Wednesday so he needs the final count that morning.

Posted by: sierra at April 5, 2008 11:08 PM

Nabil,
I'll admit that the color of our outfits was lame, but looks who's talking! Your audition video was pretty lame too.

Count me in!

Posted by: Robyn at April 6, 2008 8:50 AM

I'm in, too. Let me know if I can help in any way. Thanks, Lance and Sierra!

Posted by: Melissa at April 6, 2008 9:03 AM

Daniel-
The only thing lame about my audition video is that I still have the tape on my wrists from playing beach volleyball.

However, you may want to work on your metcon, you sure are breathing heavy here, despite the impressive performance.

Put me down for a drive by.

Posted by: angela at April 6, 2008 1:55 PM

Oh Angela, how can I reconcile all of your imbibing with this so-called drive by?

Posted by: sierra at April 6, 2008 8:00 PM

I will be there with my daughter Lily, probably closer to 5:30. I will bring wine and some kind of dessert.

Lance and Sierra, let me know how I can help you on Saturday or Sunday.
