Thanks to CFO athlete Jonathan H for passing along this study.

The gist of it is that distance runners can benefit from time spent in the weight room.

Off-Topic -

Hey everyone - just wanted to share some news from my nephew. For those of you who don't know, he's US Army infantry in Baghdad.

I've been trying to get him to do Crossfit, he said he wants nothing to do with those "butt exercises". But, he just told me he's started a weightlifting program and he just benched 225#. No doubt a Gilliatt family record. Particularly impressive is that he weighs less than 150#.

Just thought I'd share that news.

While I am sure that #2469 running for Morocco could absolutely destroy me on a run, I think he could probably use a few good meals and some pressing work.

Tom,

That's Hicham El Guerrouj, world-record holder in the 1,500 meters and the mile.

So you're right on all counts.

Perhaps he could use some vanilla ice cream.

Perhaps he could use some vanilla ice cream.

Funny you should mention that, Mike. As you well know, vanilla ice cream intake is positively correlated with increased athletic performance across a broad range activities. This has been proven time and time again in the literature, most recently in large study published in the Journal of Sports Phsysiology. Certain bodybuilders, Ronnie Coleman amongst them, have now ceased their intake of exogenous hormones and turned to Breyer's Vanilla to give them the edge they need to win.

Mike made me do it, Lau. You can read it for yourself. He even made the words "vanilla ice cream" bold.

Speaking of people who are gonna hurt me, LB has been curiously quiet after publicly disavowing her cessation of verbal hostilities against me. I can only imagine that this bodes ill for my future as she silently prepares her attack.

Many of you may have heard that we're in the process of developing a CFO Handshake to be used at future affiliate throwdown events. Here is a little inspiration to help us along.

as long as the handshake involves some vintage Kid 'n Play moves, I'm down.
