OPT vs. Bionic

A little CrossFit entertainment for you tonight (a la YouTube)...

A few CFOers have been telling me about this WOD challenge between OPT (2007 CrossFit Games champion) and another CrossFitter out of Florida, Bionic.

So far three of their WODs have been posted to YouTube. The video above is of Bionic doing the first WOD challenge, and I've included links to the remaining challenges below.

Who knows, perhaps one of these will show up on a rest day very soon...

Here are the WODs and the results of both athletes.

WOD Challenge 1

5 Rounds for time:

7 Pull-ups
7 95# thursters
7 Ring dips
7 Burpees

OPT: 5:37
Bionic: 6:12

OPT's Performance in WOD 1

WOD Challenge 2

25-20-15-10-5 reps for time:
Pull-ups
20# Wall ball shots
Double-unders

OPT: 5:49
Bionic: 7:40

OPT's Performance in WOD 2

Bionic's Performance in WOD 2

WOD Challenge 3

OPT: 21 x 23 = 483
Bionic: 26 x 24 = 624

OPT's Performance in WOD Challenge 3
Bionic's Performance in WOD Challenge 3

Which of the three WODs do you like best? Worst? How do you think you'd fare on each of them? Any takers out there?

Post your thoughts to comments.

#1 looks like a barrel of fun. count me in. though i certainly am in no place to "challenge" anyone.

I have seen the 1st challenge a few times online and have been wanting to try it. I officially challenge Audge the burpee queen. Nevermind, I forgot her dips still suck!

Posted by: Tamara at May 6, 2008 10:18 PM

Tamara - yes I definitely need some work on my dips, however I'm certain that they will come along much quicker than you trying to clean up your sloppy FUPA burpees you slug!!!

Posted by: Audra at May 6, 2008 10:43 PM

girlfight!

Posted by: Allen at May 7, 2008 12:09 AM

OH SNAP!!

Posted by: Nabil at May 7, 2008 5:30 AM

I would pay to see a Tamara - Audra throwdown.

Posted by: Brad Greenlee at May 7, 2008 5:57 AM

I want a cool name like "Bionic" or "OPT"!

Any ideas?

Posted by: brad gilliatt at May 7, 2008 7:38 AM

Brad-
How about the name "Malibu"? As in the rum you distribute... or as in this Malibu.

Daniel-
Awesome time on Elizabeth! Your exceptional strength/metcon on cleans should come in real handy when you are sitting in New York watching a Broadway musical of the Lion King on May 24th. I had a friend that went to the same show not too long ago and he said at intermission there is this huge competition where you either do cleans and ring dips or you do 30 Clean and Jerks for time. Its gonna be perfect for you... and here I was, pissed off and disappointed, thinking that it was going to be waste that you would not be at CFO for the regional throwdown leaving us completely susceptible to getting owned by the other locations should high rep cleans get drawn from the hopper.

Posted by: Nabil at May 7, 2008 8:37 AM

Nabil -

"Malibu", not bad. And if you think about it:

Malibu Rum has a white round bottle and I have a white round torso

College girls love Malibu Rum and I went to college.

Not bad at all, but maybe something a little more snappy is appropriate.

Posted by: brad gilliatt at May 7, 2008 8:51 AM

Brad-
Girls from College Prep aren't the same as "college" girls. There are many differences, the biggest one being how the judicial system views a grown married man who gets pulled over in his X3 while weaving erratically down interstate 580 with a car full of girls that attend College Prep in Oakland and all happen to be intoxicated from the copious amounts of Malibu Rum overflowing from one of those large Malibu Rum coolers you had at the CFO Throwdown Dinner.

But you know what.. if you want something "a little more snappy", just keep up what you are doing and perhaps your new cell mate will give you a "snappy" little nickname. Like Susan,... or perhaps Bitch!

Tami & Audge,

Sounds like it's put-up-or-shut-up time!

How 'bout a rest-day showdown this Friday?

I'll be there to time and keep the two of you from fighting before the bell sounds. Just remember, keep it clean!

Posted by: Mike Minium at May 7, 2008 10:56 AM

Mike - keep it clean? What fun is a fair fight?

Piedmont high tonite?

Posted by: brad gilliatt at May 7, 2008 11:11 AM

It's on Mikey!! Invite any woman up to the challenge, even what's her face (candace). Just check Audge for steroids ( her name has come up a little to often on the leader board) & bring a rep counter for candace!!

Nabil...LOL about the "college prep girls" , I could totally see. Brad being "that guy" :)

Posted by: Tamara at May 7, 2008 11:18 AM

is it just me, or does Tamara have a beat down coming? In fact, I'd like to give her that beat down.

Posted by: Nabil at May 7, 2008 11:50 AM

You don't have to threaten me with a good time, I can take it!

Posted by: Tamara at May 7, 2008 12:04 PM

Here is a suggested workout for the Tam-Audge throwdown/beatdown:

5 rounds for time:

15 burpees
7 ring dips
10 pullups
run/row 400M

Posted by: Allen at May 7, 2008 12:12 PM

Tam - not threatening you, just think you have a beat down coming.

Posted by: Nabil "the Magician" at May 7, 2008 1:22 PM

Tamara-
I didn't post that last comment (11:50 AM)
But its nice to know I've reached a celebrity status where people are impersonating me on the comment board.

Next thing you know they'll try and post workout times like mine.

Posted by: Nabil at May 7, 2008 1:27 PM

Nabil, you are truly a celebrity. First they worship every word you write, now the impersonations. What's next? The life size "Nabil" action figure with "real" pubic hair!

Posted by: Tamara at May 7, 2008 2:17 PM

Brad, instead of OPT, we can call you FAT.

Posted by: jp at May 7, 2008 2:22 PM

Mike - You KNOW I'm game for anything!

Tamara - Preparate!!

I wonder if that Nabil action figure would have the ability to get moist...:)

Posted by: Audra at May 7, 2008 2:33 PM

JP - clearly a play on the letters and not a reference to my thyroid condition.

Not bad, let me think about it.

Posted by: brad gilliatt at May 7, 2008 2:58 PM

Brad Gilliatt -> BG -> Bee Gee -> Saturday Night Fever -> "Mr. Saturday Night"

It fits in with the "rollin' in the X3 with a car full of coconut scented hoodsies" theme.

Posted by: Bill at May 7, 2008 3:57 PM

A life size Nabil action figure would NOT have pubic hair because Nabil shaves down there.
...or so I heard.

Posted by: daniel at May 7, 2008 4:03 PM

Shaving is for pussies. Nabil is all about pliers and plucking and pain.
