Heads up Nicole and Mike,

Crossfit Central isn’t exactly impressed with the CFO Affiliate Cup win. According to them the reason for your win was…geography.

(CFO shout out is at 5:25) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfjEEdRBeK0

How do you spell m-o-t-i-v-a-t-i-o-n?

Train hard(er)!

Cool - count me in on the FUEL seminar.

As for WODs, I've put myself on the DL until my nagging injuries can fully heal. If I'm not ready to rock by September, I'm going to buy new knees and an elbow on craiglist or something.

That guy is such a tool.

I hope he dislocates both his knees causing complete tears to both of his ACL's, MCL's, LCL's, and menisci. Then I hope he engages in 8 months of rigorous rehabilitation, goes back to Crossfit Central feeling extraordinarily confident about the stability and strength of knees, decides to attempt 100 double unders for time, and dislocates both of his knees again on the first double under, causing complete tears to both of his ACL's, MCL's, LCL's, and menisci.

Who is Jeremey Thiel?
....oh yeah, wasn't he on that one team that got like...6th place???

Firstly, I've seen those blueberries in that picture too many times now. I know, branding is important, but those blueberries are plenty famous and are ready for retirement.

Secondly, I don't know if anyone has yet done so, but I want to publicly thank Daniel for repairing the floor at CFO. That pothole that developed near the lifting platform in the back was a serious impediment to deadlifts and Olympic lifts. He and Candace spent some quality time on a Sunday evening, hammering, sawing, and pouring concrete. Daniel, being the safety conscious engineer that he is, was of course protected against all the irritating dust from the concrete saw with a half face respirator. Having recently enjoyed some misadventures with pouring concrete myself, I was impressed with his work. So, many thanks, Daniel. Your weight racks are awesome, too.

Lastly, I haven't watched that video yet, so I cannot comment. However, wishing him ill will not be nearly as satisfying as showing those boys from Tejas that Oakland is the true home of elite fitness at next year's Games.

I am embarrassed for Thiel. Dude reminds me of a muppet.

Twenty people? If I remember correctly, you only need four to win the cup... (ok, being surrounded by a bunch of awesome gym-mates counts for a lot)

Just the same, by Jeremy's figuring... CFO should be a lock to take the cup home again next year even if Crossfit Botswana brings 50 people.

He sounds a bit confused to me...first he says he sucks at everything, then in the next breath he says he's good at everything...

Maybe intelligence has more to do with it than location?

Well, it appears that this whole exercise thing may soon be a thing of the past. The future will be taking drugs to get in shape. From the NY Times:

Drugs Offer Promise of Fitness Without Effort

Are our olympic wrestlers training as smart as the could?

Lau,

I don't know the answer to your question, but ASU's weight room is f'n sick. And so is that one legged dude performing high pulls... that guy is definitely not half stepping.

Lau-
Great video! I don't know which I liked more, the fat top heavy blonde guy doing baby ROM on everything or the box jumps while holding dumbbells.

Favorite quote from the video:
"...abs and 4-way neck, there's a really good neck machine over in the corner." -Tom Brands

"half stepping" Bah ha. Securing your spot in hell.

that guy's an idiot. first, he says it's because of location, then in the next breath he's all, 'we have to get better. we have to bring a strong female group...' yeah, no shit captain obvious. if you're better, you'll do better. I also think one of the reasons we won the affiliate cup was because our female group kicks so much ass, and because we have a large group of solid athletes instead of just a couple of superstars.

and one more thing. from a trainers point of view, if you place 3rd and the next person from your gym doesn't place until 60th or whatever it was, maybe you need to re-evaluate your training. If Mike spent 1/2 the time and effort he spends pushing all of us on himself instead, I'm sure he'd perform better. But we probably would not have won the affiliate cup.

OFF TOPIC.

Lance, here's a quick blurb about your former restaurant.

By Jeremy Thiel's logic, it seems like one of the several Santa Cruz Crossfits should have won the Affiliate Cup.

Clearly Texans aren't know for their intellect.

Nabil,

Excellent point. He is like the George W. Bush of Crossfit..."Mandela is dead!"

> By Jeremy Thiel's logic, it seems like one of the several Santa Cruz Crossfits should have won the Affiliate Cup.

That's something I didn't understand. None of the Santa Cruz CrossFits sent very large teams to the Games. I would have figured that they would have a bunch of monsters there. Not so, not so.

Although Daniel has said how much better he feels since he has started zoning, I think this video of him when he was younger speaks volumes. Apparently zone diet can also alter your pigmentation.

I love the strut Daniel!

The Santa Cruz affiliates are all brand new (less than a year, right?), probably struggling to keep it together, build membership, pay the bills, etc.

The talent they have has been diluted by having 3 affilitates spring up from the ashes of CFHQ so close together in a small town, and most of the best athletes down there are also trainers and part owners of the new affiliates as far as I can tell. CFO on the other hand is the really the only well-established affiliate in an area with a lot more young people, jobs, etc. than you will find in Santa Cruz. Plus Oakland is just way more hardcore than just about anywhere.

Demographics and geography do play a role, I'd say...but I'd second the comments that Mike's leadership and training played a huge role, and the overall quality of athletes, community, competition, and hardcoreness we have at CFO is unparallelled.

Or in plain Texan, we kicked their ass cuz we're better'n them.

Stop the presses! These guys could be some stiff competition for next year. And I mean STIFF!

Is that legal in CA?

I think the massage place on the corner is on the myfitmuse affiliate list.

I just quit crossfit. After a few hours of browsing the myfitmuse site, 2.5 L of body fluid lighter, I came to the decision I will be working out with Gabriela at the 6pm class. For those on the fence muses Jackie, Ira and Emile will be in attendance.

btw james *you're a pig. How dare you imply that these women are anything less then the most qualified, educated and professional trainers available.

*special thanks to uber nerd. Correct use of commas?

Yes, I'm a pig... and I just signed up too! I got Bethany - her nickname is TBD. Which one did you get?

aaaand, I should have read *your first post better.

*self-acquired punctuation skills

wow... I just watched that video. That IS how you spell motivation.

I am not sure I follow the logic: Apparently CF Central was not able to motivate its "Top 5 Females and Top 5 Males" to make the trip to Cali and compete, so the cup went to a bunch of geographically-desirable slackers... I suppose that is why Jason K took first as well...

No, no, y'all don't understand his point. Jeremy is saying that the only reason CFO won was because there was such a giant horde of CFO supporters (in fab green tee shirts) cheering on the CFO athletes. If our psychic power would have been trained on CF Central instead then their athletes would've finished high enough to take the cup. So, instead of feeling like "I may have attended the games, but really have no right to brag on CFO since I had nothing to do with the affiliate cup win" I am going to go with Jeremy's analysis and say "No way would the CFO athletes even been able to do the workouts if it hadn't been for my personal attendance and cheering." :-)

hey, who cares what this guy says on some website or video or something. You won't catch me watching it. Remember, talk is cheap.

Now this "myfitmuse" thing is interesting. Porn and fitness, sounds like that episode of 30 Rock.

The first survey question was curious...

so anyway, how are my CFO pals doing? Miss you guys.

Wow! That myFITmuse is something else. I just googled Cina for about an hour. Then I used Google to try and find some info on her, but I'm not sure if that's her real name.

She's probably just doing it to put herself through med school.

Thanks for everything CFO! You guys are the best, and I will miss training with such great people.

xoxo,

MJJ
