Olympic Weightlifting Seminar: Catalyst Athletics Event

Olympic Weightlifting Seminar
Saturday & Sunday October 18-19
10:00am - 5:00pm
CrossFit NorCal
Chico, CA
The Olympic lifts develop unparalleled explosiveness for athletes of all types, but because of their relatively great technical complexity, they are often performed incorrectly, limiting their effectiveness, or even avoided entirely.
Spend two days learning complete progressions for the snatch and clean & jerk, and dramatically improve your own lifting technique.
Registration includes a 102-page excerpt from the book Olympic Weightlifting: A Complete Guide for Athletes & Coaches by Greg Everett
Requirements & Expectations
No previous experience with the Olympic lifts is required, but attendees should be reasonably experienced with basic strength lifts such as the squat and deadlift. This seminar will be hands-on for its duration.
Featuring
Greg Everett, CSCS, USA Weightlifting Coach
Aimee Anaya, National Champion Weightlifter

If anyone is feeling like they have $500 they have been looking to donate to a good cause, look no further. While it probably would not qualify as a tax deductible donation, I can assure you it will go a long way toward bringing my Olympic (lifting) dreams within reach, and possibly even ending world hunger.

Man, I would totally register for that seminar if I weren't expecting babies around then.

babies, schmabies.

Because my life revolves around the cult and little else, I have been thinking strongly about going to this for the past few weeks. It's $150 less than a Burgener cert and it will be a lot closer. Of course, it's still $450 that I could be spending on crack instead. Decisions, decisions.
Wyatt, I like your world hunger pitch. Please elaborate.
Brad, going to the cert might help you put a baby in each hand and perform technically flawless squat snatches with them. The kiddos love that kind of stuff.

Hey Mike and Nicole, what kind of discount for groups are available? There's a contact for the answer to that question on the link you posted.
It could make the difference for some of us on the fence...

Tom, Loren, and Others,
I'm planning on going and can vouch for Greg's efficacy as a coach and lifter in his own right.
I will check with Greg and see what we can do. I'd like to have three people who are committed to going before I approach him (three people besides myself). So hopefully one more of you out there will post to comments expressing your interest.

Count me in Mike, discount or not.

Mike,
Pencil me in for the group plan.

Outstanding!
I'll send an email to Greg tomorrow.
In the meantime, I wanna wait and see if there's anyone else who wants to come as well.

again, a slow news day.
So, need to let you all know I have a non-believer at my pad tonite drinking beers, watching MLB and yp. But, he's mocking Crossfit. People mock what they don't understand. (I think he did like the Nasty Guys video)
However, he actually asked a pretty good question -
"WHERE'S THE BRAD GILLIATT VIDEO?"

I think Nabil has that in his private collection. Ask him.

I was only half joking about hoping for a benefactor (just in case anyone was actually considering giving me money - hint, hint). But really, count me in.

I'm in. Discount is always nice (my peeps love discounts)--also, as we get closer to the event, maybe we can organize carpools, etc..-i'll promise not to leave my shoes on top of the car.
