Gymnastics Cert at CFO?

Jeff Tucker, of CrossFit GSX fame, recently inquired about coming out here to do a gymnastics seminar at our box.

But before that happens, we have to make sure we have enough people who'd be willing to participate in such a seminar.

This seminar would cover such skills as handstands, the basics of tumbling, ring work, back levers, front levers, etc.

So give us a quick show of hands in comments on whether you'd like to take part in such a gymnastics seminar.

YES!

I would be very interested, but I don't know that I am $600 interested. I already regularly assemble a large cache of bills on my altar at home and burn them as offerings to the CrossFit gods. While the skills they would impart would be very valuable, I doubt that I would attend in the near future.

In unrelated news, I saw The Dark Knight this evening. Finally, they made a good Batman movie. I was impressed.

what do you mean, "finally?" The first two Michael Keaton one's were awesome, and Batman Begins was awesome. I'm kind of a Batman nerd, though.

Brad-
Maybe you could learn a thing or two about what's really important in life from these guys.

> what do you mean, "finally?" The first two Michael Keaton one's were awesome,

I beg to differ. I would argue that the first was just okay and the second was somewhat less than okay.

> and Batman Begins was awesome.

Batman Begins was decent, but not really a great movie. It had a rather high cheese factor in parts, but it was better than any of the Batman movies that came before it. The Dark Knight was quite well done and well acted. It also had an involved and engaging plot that was not neatly wrapped up with a test audience-approved happy ending.

They finally made the music video of my life!

Diamonds all across my teeth, when I talk, I spark.
Gimme the keys, gimme the weed, gimme the Gs, gimme the MAC-10.

That's exactly what my weekend was like. Uncanny!

¿Cómo estás, Miguel?

Nabil -

That's what I'm talking about! Thank you!

On another note - I forgot to order a 4blker from Lance. I will gladly trade you for a 4blker for 5blker next week....jk.

I'd be interested in a gymnastics cert, asumming my various injuries are under control.

A friend of mine just asked me to donate to Athletes for a Cure: 2008 CrossFit Fight Gone Bad. I don't see CFO in the team list...anyone interested in doing this?

I would love to augment my woeful gymnastic skills. However my actual participation would be a function of scheduling and cost.

I would be interested in practicing handstands.

Candace, I have turkey chili with kidney beans and aged cheddar, sorry I'm out of the salad R U interested?

gymnastic shtuff??? i'm in.

the new batman flick earned a b+ with me. bale's lackluster performance and silly growling voice were a little disappointing. ledger stole the show...phenomenal performance. i found myself rooting for the bad guy. nolan's use of live action stunts and difficult camera work really paid off (very little cg here).

Tom A,

I disagree regarding Bale's performance. I didn't find it lackluster. I did, however, find the gravelly voice a little funny at first, but I noticed that in the first movie so I was prepared for it in this one.

Both Toms participating in a CFO blog commentary--that's a first!

Three things:

It is nice to see Tom A posting.

Batman is for nerds.

I'd like to sponsor Good Brad and Nabil (my two people loving, everything is right in the world, turn the other check, get lemons make lemonade, pure of heart socialist friends) in the Fight Gone Bad fundraiser. (That is of course assuming Nabil participates)

Lance,

YES! How do i get it from you?

Candace

Candace - I'll bring it to the 6am class tomorrow.

Serious question. How would I apply the front lever (I think thats the exercise being demo'd in the pic) in a real world situation?

Nabil,

I'm completely unqualified to answer your question, but I refuse to let that stop me. Unless you are Batman, I cannot see a direct application for the front lever. However, the strength developed by practicing such moves probably helps with shoulder and midline stability.

Nabil,

there I was, contracted by Glassman to obtain training secrets from Gold's headquarters. A small gaggle of katana wielding step aerobics instructors were chasing me. On the 17th floor I did a butterfly kip, spun and landed in a front lever on the plumbing over head dodging a flurry of sword swings. The leotard clad instructors were so impressed with my maneuver we turned the 17th floor into another episode of everybody put their mouth on Lau.

That's a back lever. Front levers are way harder.

I would be interested in that class

I'm sold :)) +1
