Candace, It is my pleasure. No problem.

Jonathan,
If I had known that out of shape fat dudes with poor range of motion give you a boner, I would have posted this link a long time ago.

Jonathan-
Clean it up! For the record I've never used that term.
Brandon-
WOW!! JUST WOW!!!
Actually those jumping jacks are kinda like doing 500lb. snatch press!
Posted by: Nabil at August 10, 2008 8:09 PM
Oh my, Brandon. That's really quite a corruption of the human form.
Posted by: TomC at August 10, 2008 8:49 PM
Damn, Brandon. That ruined my night almost as much as seeing tomorrow's WOD.

CFO Peeps
I am having a party on the 30th of this month. The party will be held in
San Geronimo at my parent's house. Its a beautiful area and a fun place for a party.
There is a hot tub and pool, we will be barbecuing and doing a WOD.
Kids are welcome and I hope everyone from CFO can make it.
Please reply if you will be there and more details to come.

>corruption of the human form.
nice.
Brandon, I second Nabil's comment. Wow.
Yeah, I'm sure those guys would puke from any kind of crossfit workout, but they're strong as shit. I get nostalgic for the days when all I did was heavy lifting. Plus, as cheesy as it is, Pacino's speech gets me pumped.

How did she get the cheeks and the anus to be on the front?
Great soundtrack though and an even better video

My Mojo videos all have the same theme, if you’re not fit enough you’re probably not going to make it. This is one of my favorites, of an amazing athlete putting it all on the line.

Lau, I'm in.
I don't think I've ever seen someone jump rope as aggressively as Ross Enamait. I want to learn to do that.
Posted by: TomC at August 10, 2008 10:57 PM
Not sure if this counts as a "mojo video", but whenever I don't feel like doing something, I think of this video.
(Speaking of which, I'm going to put off today's workout until tomorrow...after that clean/rope climb WOD, plus Angela's clean clinic yesterday, I need my rest day now.)
MJJ: that was awesome.
Posted by: Brad Greenlee at August 11, 2008 7:54 AM
And in the spirit of MJJ's video, there's of course this one. Then again, he's dead now.

MJJ-
I had no idea you liked white dudes in speedos, frolicking in the water to some romantic music!
Nonetheless, here you go.
Posted by: Nabil at August 11, 2008 9:21 AM
Check-it out for today's WOD (hip is not trapped and lifts first!)

Nabil-
In the words of GI Joe...Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
Posted by: Mjj at August 11, 2008 11:56 AM
Brad the speed climbing video is a favorite of mine as well. The first video I put up drew me into diving, this “Mojo” video moved me towards BASE jumping: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfXevxZjDxc
For all the videos you have to do the WODs as RX’d, and you better finish, or you’re going to have a very bad day.
Posted by: Mjj at August 11, 2008 12:26 PM
speed climbing video was disturbing.
surprised to learn that he didn't die from that, but from rope jumping. Who the heck does that.

My favorite videos right now are those showing the Chinese women weightlifting in Beijing. They are examples of incredible focus, technique, and power. When Chen Yanquing was performing her snatches, she didn't shake, twitch, or do anything besides execute some of the most flawless lifts I've ever seen. If you wanna see Chen absolutely dominate the competition, fast forward to 43 minutes in. She is fierce.

Tom,
As much as I appreciate the well-deserved shout-out to the female lifters from China, you must be smoking something if you don't give props to the 17-year-old lifter who won the 56-kg class yesterday, Long QingQuan.
He's the most impressive lifter I've seen. Power plus technique. Watched his lifts several times in super slow-mo. Incredible.

mike,
i see the men's 56kg Group B and the medal ceremony, but i haven't found the video of the winner's lifts. can you post a link to that?
Posted by: Joe P at August 11, 2008 5:00 PM
Don't get me wrong, I think Olympic lifting is highly technical and develops great explosivness. But I also believe b/c there are essentially only three movements and there are virtually no variables (for god's sake the entire sport is done standing in one spot) it just isn't a very "athletic" sport. Yes, their technique and their power is beyond amazing, but there are few sports who's athletes are more specialized (especially considering there are such few possible movements) than O-Lifters. I mean even those athletes that shot targets have different distances and varying wind to deal with. Golf is another example, golfers are definitely highly specialized, however, very rarely do you have two of the exact same shots in golf.
Sorry TomC, the sport of o-lifting just gives me a major case of the Monday's.
Posted by: Nabil at August 11, 2008 7:13 PM
So MJJ - I have to ask. How deep can you go?
Posted by: brad gilliatt at August 11, 2008 8:05 PM
> you must be smoking something if you don't give

Well, I have to admit that since they reformulated Sudafed, the quality of meth in my neighborhood has been inconsistent at best. I tried to pull up some video from the men's 56-kg lifting to no avail.
> Sorry TomC, the sport of o-lifting just gives me a major case of the Monday's.
Ah, what would we do without Office Space? I see your points, but I'm still amazed at those Chinese women. They yell something like "Onward Proletariat Revolution!" in Mandarin just before throwing down. If I weren't so damn sick at the moment, I would be breaking pieces of furniture while watching them.
Posted by: TomC at August 11, 2008 8:47 PM
wow, Nabil opened the can of "what constitutes an athlete" worms. Are golfers athletes? Is Cecil Fielder an athlete? do you have to be sweating to be competing in an athletic event? what if you just stand there the whole time? is pitching athletic, or just a skill? why do they show poker on ESPN? what about weight lifting? skill or athletic sport? Pavel (kettlebell guru) calls himself 'master of sports.' that's kind of ridiculous. ahh, the many questions to be debated.
Posted by: Jonathan at August 11, 2008 9:23 PM
TomC,
is that what she said before her lift? I was joking about that at the gym today and I want to know what she said.
Posted by: Lau at August 11, 2008 9:50 PM
Jonathan's post makes me think of our #1 female CFO'er.
She whupped it up at the CF games and can also play golf (really well) and the guitar.
So, I think the true sign of a great athlete is master of many disciplines, but back to the woman in my post....
The question becomes.....
WHAT CAN'T SHE DO?
Posted by: brad gilliatt at August 11, 2008 10:16 PM
> is that what she said before her lift?
I highly doubt it. I don't know that she even said any discernible words. However, I work with a woman from China who is fluent in Mandarin. I will ask her to get the real deal.

Not sure what Mojo actually means but if I think it means what it does...
Ross is a highly respected trainer in the combat sports community. Not going to bother listing all the people he's worked with but check out his website, you might want to do so: www.rosstraining.com
Also, did you know what the CrossFit standard for things like the burpee were set by Ross? Check out the CrossFit FAQ for more info.
Take care, fight and train hard,
JM.-
