Strength
Connor gets a 580# Deadlift! What are your strength goals? One month from now, three months? A year?
Post your plan to comments.

My goal is to DL 200# by the year's end. That's all I can think of right now. Awesomely monstrous DL, Connor. You rule.
Posted by: sierra at August 20, 2008 9:55 PM
To get a damn kipping pullup before my second CF anniversary.
580?! I did a PR of 315 yesterday and I think I ruptured my spleen. 580 is like a fridge. Awesome work.
Posted by: Brendhan at August 20, 2008 10:07 PM
That is a ridiculous deadlift, GREAT JOB CONNOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Jason Khalipa at August 20, 2008 10:07 PM
Nice, Connor!
I had a DL goal of 400#, but then a friend pointed out that 405# is an even eight 45# plates and is "when your deadlift balls drop," so I guess that's what I'm shooting for now.
Further out, I'd love to hit 900 on my CFT. I'm not sure how realistic that is (I'm at 800 now), but a boy's gotta dream.
Posted by: Brad Greenlee at August 20, 2008 10:20 PM
I'd like to go a whole year without an injury, thereby allowing myself to actually make real strength gains.
Posted by: Jonathan at August 20, 2008 10:29 PM
oh yeah. that's a badass lift, Connor. nice work.
Posted by: Jonathan at August 20, 2008 10:32 PM
Connor, you're very very very strong. Even Jason Khalipa thinks so. Keep driving the big bus BRO. Great work.
Posted by: Lance at August 20, 2008 10:32 PM
Connor - not sure the point of me giving you props....
Mr. Khalipa's shout out to you says it all.
Posted by: brad gilliatt at August 20, 2008 10:48 PM
oh, my strength goal.
Like Jonathan, I'd like to get healthy. Regardless of that, I'd like to hit 200# BP. About BW +25.
Should do it so long as Wyatt isn't spotting me!
Posted by: brad gilliatt at August 20, 2008 10:51 PM
Nice, Connor!
I'd like a 1.5 X BW dead lift by year end. Now, if I can just lose 86 pounds, I'm there!

I hereby announce the inspetion of the Croaklies! Its an award much like the Grammy or Espy or even the Dundies (for those who watch The Office)
Croaklies will be given to excellent posts and those who perform exceptional acts (aside from workout performances,... we've got the Performance of the Day to recognize those folks)
Brandon gets a Croaklie for yesterday's post for creativity, articulate vocabulary, excellent use of video and picture links, as well as lighting an ever friendly, yet competitive fire amongst our newest members of CFO. This competitivness, coupled with the awesome leadership and coaching that Mike and his team of coaches brings to the table is one of the key ingredients that makes CFO such a high performance affiliate!
Lance gets a Croaklie for today's post. Short, understated, extremely funny!
And I know I keep bringing it up but I'm giving a Croaklie to Lau for his stellar front kick last Friday. One of the more amazing and hilarious things I've witnessed in a while. At the very least it deserves a tutuorial video on the main CF site!
I would say nice job Connor, but from the photo it looks like you are doing a deadlift with 10 lbs. plates on each side. Kinda weak, don't you think?
Posted by: Nabil at August 20, 2008 11:15 PM
inception
and yes, my arm is killing me from giving out verbal HJ's
Posted by: Nabil at August 20, 2008 11:20 PM
your arm is tired but I am lying here somnolent and wishing you would turn into a pizza.
Posted by: Lau at August 20, 2008 11:44 PM
My goals:
400 LB Back Squat
315 Bench Press
185 Shoulder Press
Sub 3 C2B Fran
Chest hair like Lau
My goal is to get this by mid January...Make it happen Mike.
Lau,
If Tony Blauer can make "Elevator Defense" videos, there is no reason that you can't make a "I'm drunk in an art gallery and feel really out of place" video.
Posted by: daniel at August 21, 2008 5:27 AM
Nabil, Early morning(pre 6am workout)late afternoon(10th time I've checked the post) or just before I lay my head down to sleep, I am always amused by your wit. Thanks for the free entertainment. Oh, almost forgot, I thought you kicked TomC to the curb cause he was too tall for you...
Posted by: Lance at August 21, 2008 5:50 AM
oh, another thing I would like to call attention to is the power of the chucks. I'm sure Connor will agree, Chuck is a good friend on heavy lifting days.
Posted by: Jonathan at August 21, 2008 8:20 AM
stong work connor!
Posted by: p. at August 21, 2008 8:56 AM
The dundies!! nabil, you just solidified your place on my heart forever. not only are you ridiculously strong and funny, but you just referenced the best thing on tv. khalipa, i think it's really cool that you post on the board. nice work at the games!
Posted by: sierra at August 21, 2008 10:00 AM
Connor:
580#.....damn...However, while the total numbers are monstrous and i'm not a hater (actually I am, i sit in the back and while i'm overtly high-fiving and congratulating, i'm secretly plotting each person's demise and ordering 'how to effectively use mind control' books from amazon.com.)--its part of my coursework for my PhD (playa hater degree))--sorry for the digression. I meant to say that we need to keep some perspective here and see how these monstrous numbers are relative to BW. That said, my gastric bypass is just now kicking in. I'm now officially in training to get down to 95lbs. My goal is to beat audra in the CFT--she's a freak though so i got my work cut out for me.
Also, after seeing the spectacular performance in air rifle and boxing (yes, boxing, not software development candace) by the Indian olympics team, I'm gearing up for 2012 in London mate. We'll bust ass and finally throw off the shackles of colonialism and re-establish the athletic dominance of the motherland.
weight goals:
300# back squat (w/o blowing out my knees)
150# Press
187# C&J
Posted by: pratik at August 21, 2008 10:07 AM
Daniel,
You don't have a 315 bench press? Huh.
Posted by: Brandon B. at August 21, 2008 10:25 AM
I tend to set very broad goals for myself, I almost got a pullup withOUT the band of death, so that was one goal I had before 6 months in, and the next one would be ONE double under. I don't think that is too much to ask, considering that I see all these new peeps coming in whipping out double unders like they just left the playground but for me, the jump rope seems to be my nemesis. Once I get my double unders though, then I can start getting that little "RX'd" next to my workout and that is the most important thing in the world to me right now, even on just one workout, it would really solidify me as a person if I could get that.
Other than that, I'd like to someday be able to compete with Candace on something, anything really. So far the only thing I got up on Candace is annual mascara consumption. So if anyone knows something that Candace is maybe mediocre, at best at, that would be a great tip for me. I am hard pressed to find anything she sucks at ;))
(Thanks again, Girl for your help and motivation on Fight Gone Bad, you Rocked it! Oh, Sorry about the box jump fiasco ;))
Posted by: Lydia at August 21, 2008 10:29 AM
Connor - Nice job! I had to do a double take on the weight. What can I say...you never fail to amaze me!
Posted by: Audra at August 21, 2008 10:41 AM
Connor currently weighs approximately 240lbs. While he weighs
More than the majority of the other CFO members, the weight that he is moving (squats and deads) is still significantly more than his body weight, relatively speaking. He is also consistently pr'ing in the big lifts as he continues to drop body weight. Am I taking on the protective older brother role - yes.

i nominate someone for a Croaklie. Award for best quote of last friday night:
"6 figure income, M3, six pack abs. WHAT!?!"
Posted by: Lau at August 21, 2008 11:12 AM
also
http://www.crossfitunlimited.com/ put out the details on the big girls don't cry challenge. 5 spots left.
Austin thanks for putting it on and thanks for listening to the grovelings of a cheap bastard
Posted by: Lau at August 21, 2008 11:22 AM
By no means did I mean to try and diminish Connor's amazing numbers. My self-acknowledged hateration should have dispelled any such notion. Let me be clear: Connor's performance is sick. It has raised the bar at CFO by a significant amount.
Maybe I can be nominated for a Croaklie in the HOTY category (Hater of the Year)?
Finally, I would like a big brother too. Who's up for it? Michael Gardner? B-Rad G? Someone please step up!

I was sitting in my office, looking at my lunch: Cucumber, meat and cheese sandwich... no bread. (i.e. meat and cheese squished between cucumber slices because Connie told me gluten was bad) Daniel seems convinced that Connor didn't achieve his 580# lift from staying away from gluten (we seriously had that conversation this morning) but I am trusting Connie on this one. Anyway, back to my story. This wanna-be sandwich was making me sad... I kept thinking about the corner store just 12 floors down from me where they sell fluffy bread by the loaves. I kept envisioning my sandwich with the life and vitality that bread can add to it. This was all before I read Lydia's flattering post. Thank you, friend (see I told you we are friends). That made my day:) Especially because my biggest weakness is arguably MOTIVATION!
… which leads me to my goals…
Goal 1. beat Tamara’s deadlift. Goal 2. Beat Tamara’s C&J. Goal 3… (you get the idea). So Tamara, get your growing booty up here to the Bay so I can have my motivator back.
I do actually have personal goals on damn near every workout but I don’t want to bore you all with that. And, just to keep this post well-rounded, my goals are also not to lose all balance in my life. Like supposedly I am supposed to be doing important stuff in this here office and not obsessing over my gluten intake.
PS. If the cookies are gluten free can you eat more of them???
Posted by: Candace at August 21, 2008 11:32 AM
Yes Lau, that quote is definitely deserving of a Croaklie.
The amazing 6-3-6 combo, not a single hetrosexual female out there that can resist that!!
Posted by: Nabil at August 21, 2008 11:47 AM
Connor, if you really weigh 240 that is a 2.42 X BW DL. Awesome! Is anyone at CFO doing 2.5 X BW? I'm at about 2.2 and rising.
A few of my goals are to do an 8 minute Helen (C2B), 5 minute Fran (C2B), and be able to do
Grace as RX'd in under 10 minutes. Strength goals: 135# press, 275# squat, 375# DL = 785CFT. Best so far is 720. A year ago it was about 620 if I remember right.
My other big goal is to run a 56 second 400M on the last lap of a 10k like that Kenyan guy did in the olympics, and to get some gold track shoes so I can SLOW DOWN the last 20M of a 100m dash and still break the world record. WTF?!?!?
Posted by: Allen at August 21, 2008 12:15 PM
Lydia are you f'n blind Candace sucks at everything!!! Actually she holds the world record time for minutes taken squeezing into anything Lulu Lemon. Just because you can does not mean you should!
As for your goals...you are perfectly "well rounded" and a bit fluffy, don't change a thing. I will be glad to give you any record that I have and 2nd place at the xfit games next year. First start with smaller goals like learning how to count. Well back to the drawing board for you. Hopefully this motivates you to do something other than stab me.
Posted by: Tamara at August 21, 2008 2:21 PM
Just to clarify my nice response was for Candace :)
Posted by: Tamara at August 21, 2008 2:23 PM
my first goal is to be a big (or a least older) brother to pratik.
some other cfo goals:
a three figure oh squat
a string of 10 ctb kipping pullups
3 consecutive muscle ups
Posted by: michael g at August 21, 2008 2:33 PM
I love you too, Tamara:)
Posted by: Candace at August 21, 2008 2:49 PM
OK, I think I am going to have to drop out of this race. I had no idea that Candace was chasing Tamara before I started chasing Candace, but me chasing Tamara is NOT an option. I just don't enter into things that I can't win. Period. That's what makes me a winner, I only play what I am good at ;))
Oh and Nabil, as a heterosexual female in my own league, I would pass on the 6-3-6 combo, M3's don't do it for me like a big Harley riding or big truck running man's man! Of course, I am also a retired whiskey hustler in my own right, so I'm not your average "girl"
Posted by: Lydia at August 21, 2008 3:28 PM
anything as Rx'd
Posted by: Brian R at August 21, 2008 3:44 PM
I'm really looking to take my checkers game to the next level.
Posted by: TomC at August 21, 2008 4:57 PM
I'm an Audra chaser, myself. Homegirl is ridiculously strong and fast. I remember doing Michael for the first time with her and thinking, that girl is my fitness idol. I'll never catch up, though - she's expontially faster and stronger everytime I see her. Total eye of the tiger.
Posted by: sierra at August 21, 2008 5:09 PM
Goals... hmm. Start crossfitting again? Yeah, I miss CFO.
Hey, I grew up two houses down from one of your SWAT guys from the other day. I think it's the guy above and left of Nicole if his name is Mike.
Posted by: james p at August 21, 2008 5:43 PM
So let me get this straight....What Lydia is saying is that my 4-350-5 can beat a 6-3-6???
(4 figures in debt, F-350, 5 foot tall)
Posted by: daniel at August 21, 2008 5:50 PM
Pratik -
You want a big brother? Funny, I've always wanted a little brother. I'm going to treat you the same way my big brother treated me.
I'm going to steal your money, food, car, golf clubs, and then deny it. I'm going to make sure you never get a good nite sleep. Yes, in the middle of the nite while you are aslepp I'm going to drill you in the head with a pillow. And when you wake up and scream I'm going to call you a little pu$$y.
I'm going to tell everyone you have a little dik. Don't even think about crying to Patrice.
This will be great! When do we start?
