Tamara in action
Many (most?) of you who read this blog or go to the gym regularly know of Tamara's CrossFit prowess. Many of you may even know she's a firefighter for Oakland Fire Department.
What you may not know is that she's also a member of OFD's search-and-rescue team. Tamara, along with others from OFD's s&r team, was sent out to Texas earlier this morning to help in the Hurricane Ike response effort.

Send good vibes Tami's way via comments, as she helps out those who need it most.
***FGB Fundraiser Reminder***
If you haven't done so yet, please go to the Team CFO page and register! We want 50 people (min) to participate in the FGB fundraiser workout, which will benefit prostate cancer research and treatment.
***Evening Class Heads-Up***
The workout tomorrow is Run 5k. As is our policy, we'll be giving you the option of running the Lake Merritt loop or doing a workout at CFO for tomorrow's evening classes. There will be a trainer at both locations. If you're running the lake, go to the columns across from the library near Grand Avenue (the columns are right on the lake, and part of the loop).

You know you're my hero T. Stay safe out there.
Be safe T.
Tamara - way to make Oakland proud!
Tami - Proud to know you. Take care of yourself and come home soon!
You're the awesome-est, T! Take care.
BTW, I wrote to Athletes For a Cure to clarify the 8-ft. wall-ball target rule and their response was: "this is intentional as many facilities cannot accommodate 10 feet."
So do we get an "easy" one, or keep our standard? I think I'd rather stick to what we've been doing so our scores can be compared with past ones, but maybe for the sake of Brandon or Candace or anyone who has a shot at the highest individual score award, we should be doing the 8-ft targets.
We heart you and are proud of you. Come back to the hub as soon as you can. xoxo
Big props T. Freakin stud!
there she goes, doing one more thing to leave us all in awe. be safe girl!!!
Tamara, your life has a lot of meaning. Thank you for the inspiration.
Take care, Tami. Be safe and come home soon. Watch out for them giant gulf crawdads.
Wow T! Be safe.
Tamara since you’re in Texas drop by Crossfit Central and visit Jeremy Thiel. He thinks CFO is awesome and really respects the effort you guys put out in winning the Affiliate Cup.
What's the problem Mikey? I see the caption for heroes and then see a picture of the 4th place loser. This must have been meant for Patrick. Wish I could say I was pulling people out of the trenches, instead we got the less glamorous job of transporting all the heavy equipment. FEMA doesn't know it yet but I'm going to 4-wheel my Gator to the nearest trailor park, bust the door with the hydraulic ram, and save some unsuspecting redneck from voting for Palin. Thanks for all the goodwill people but so far the only excitement has been rattle snakes, giant roaches, and people with big trucks that look like Daniel who like to say "git er dun".
Tami,
I would like to point out that it is Git'r dun. There is no e! Hero's should be able to spell better than that! I'm so disappointed.
Sorry for mixing in proper English, something most people here haven't heard of. It was truly sad when the trucker tried to say 60+60= 180... Even you can count better than that, however I do see where you "git" your great sense of fashion :)
Tamara - Even in your absence you are an inspiration.
Just for the record, I'm 6' 6" and fully in support of the 8" wall-ball target! Now if I can just get that silly C2B pull-up standard converted to 100 lb. lat pulldowns I could start kickin' ass on some WODs.
Three cheers for Tamara. Come home safe, friend.
Tami, good luck with the voter education program. Save a few bugs for me. Roaches are a wonderful protein source and very tasty, too. I highly recommend the cockroach FAQ. Who would have thought that those little dudes were so fascinating? I look forward to seeing you back at the gym, Tami.
> Hero's should be able to spell better than that!
Engineers are apparently exempted from that rule. :)
You show 'em what a real woman looks like, T.
I'm confused. There are probably going to be 50+ athletes working out at CFO next Saturday. An anonymous donor has volunteered to pony up the $150 for each athlete willing to do Fight Gone Bad. We've only got 17 people signed up. What's the deal? You are going to be at CFO anyway, why not suffer for a cause?
Time is running out, amigos.
t, my hero...
Miss you t! I've always looked up to older folks who've got it together to try and gain a lil bit of knowledge. And when it comes to you t, when I say try to gain a lil bit, I mean A LOT. like a lot a lot. I'd like to throw in role model to the list of adjectives being used.
Im coming down monday night and should be around tues and wed for wods. mikey....think of something nasty. hope to see some of your faces again.
Looking forward to seeing you again, P-hole. Can't wait!
