MJJ at the top of Mt. Rainier
As many of you know, MJJ is back to training at CFO after his trek up Mt. Rainier.
As you can see from the photo above, he had CFO on his mind (among many other things, I'm sure) during his climb. As he moved up the mountain, the temperature dropped to ten degrees, with winds gusting above 50 mph.
Give it up to MJJ for making it up and down Mt. Rainier in one piece.

Previously I thought the same way. Gloves are for wimps! And yes, in some real life, lion chasing you up a tree scenario you probably won't have the luxury of gloves. But there comes a point where I just say "...who cares anymore." If you wanna wear gloves, or use grips, then USE THEM! You are still doing the same workout and thus the same work output. Some people just aren't as hardcore and don't care to show off what can sometimes look and feel like a stigmata! After learning the butterfly kip I starting getting some nasty ones and I considered gloves simply b/c I couldn't train for a couple of days after my hands tore, but the grip you get (or don't get) when doing pullups with gloves just isn't the same, I need the feel of the bar so I don't use gloves. As for Rippetoe and many others who have a strong aversion to gloves,... evolutionarly speaking they are only a few steps above caveman and constantly trying to prove their toughness and/or trying to elimate any signs of "weakness" by either denouncing gloves or refusing to demonstrate a specific movement at a barbell cert. that no one is able to get but everyone has paid $600 but you claim you "need a 20 minute warm up" .. and thus never demonstrate the movement.

I'm always surprised by the ultra conservative slant of the commentators on the main site. I find their unyielding and often irrational views on various political issues fascinating in much the same way that Raleigh St. Claire found Dudley's Heinsbergen Syndrome in the Royal Tenenbaums fascinating.
Favorite Sara Palin Fact:
Levi Johnston, the mulleted boyfriend of Bristol Palin, has a "Bristol" tattoo on his left ring finger. Awesome.
Finally, I love how the guy who was reprimanded for defining S.P.E.C.T.A.T.I.N.G, finds political banter on the CFO blog inappropriate.

Oh politics...what fun! There's a good reason I don't discuss politics. I grew up in an all-white rich neighborhood, which tends to equate to the Republican party. After college I moved to NYC where all my friends were democrats, 8 years there and now 12 years in Nor Cal. All democrats. As is my wife.
My friends back in Detroit where I grew up all think I'm a flaming liberal (they are actually AGAINST same sex marriges) and my New York and Nor Cal friends all think I'm a card carrying member of the John Birch Society!
(I have one buddy who ended up making an absolute ton of money and now has three kids. I knew him when he was a radical law student doing pro bono work, now he thinks George Bush is amazing! Go figure!)
So, I get hit by both sides, badly. I have voted for democrats and republicans.

Let's just be nice to each other. And if you don't like the national site's slant, don't go to their site. I haven't gone to that site since part 9 of Allison NYC. I wonder how her boobs are doing?
