December 27th is an auspicious day, to be sure. Both Johannes Kepler and Louis Pasteur were born on this day at varying intervals in the past. I think that in honor of those individuals that mathematically described the motion of the planets and made pioneering discoveries in the field of immunology, CFO should field a team of women’s Olympic lifters at Los Altos. Kepler = Weightlifting. This makes sense to me.
I rolled in to CFO last night a little after five only to discover that weekend hours were in effect. As MJJ, CFO’s full-time resident, so eloquently pointed out, I did not get the memo. Sad, so sad. I had to turn around and ride home, but not before grabbing my lifting shoes. Instead, I went to lift at Gold’s Gym on Grand Ave, just a few blocks from my house.
There are lots of strange people doing strange things at Gold’s Gym. A number of top-heavy dudes are strutting around in bizarre clothing and occasionally engaging in some highly ineffective “exercises.†To be fair, I did see one cat squatting 225 lbs for a number of reps well below parallel. He was the exception. The ladies were a comely bunch, to be sure. Despite the highly attractive feminine scenery, I’m afraid that my dream of a worthwhile gym within walking distance that is open for lots of hours has been dashed.
