Team Asia before yesterday's team competition

Props to all of the teams who showed up yesterday and left everything they had on the floor at the CF Silicon Valley throwdown.

It was a great experience, if for no other reason than to expose some weaknesses and gaps in training. In my opinion, this is just what we needed heading into the homestretch right ahead of the Games.

Congratulations to the teams from CF Unlimited and CF San Jose for stepping it up.

The top five Rx'd results:

1. CF Unlimited 16:08
2. CF San Jose 16:38
3. CFO Team Nike 16:46
4. CFO Team Asia 19:38
5. CFO Oakland Ink 19:45

Post any insights you gained from competing yesterday.

Thank you CrossFit Oakland for visiting us - CrossFit Silicon Valley. You are great athletes, and it is great to have you in any competition. Special thanks to Tom, who jumped into our team, when one of our teammates pulled his hamstring.

1,2,3... GO!

TomC - that was classy.

As soon as you get under the weight, nothing else matters but getting under it again as soon as possible. Every second counts.

Dear Crossfit Oakland and especially Manwell and Journey,

I promise to get off the suck pills.

Sincerely,

P.

I am really proud of my team, Team Asia even though I think we had the best hair.

Also really glad Lydia was able to get in touch with the Asian in her.

Great job CFO with the top 5 finishes!

Props to all who represented at the throwdown. Sorry to miss the fun/suffering.

I've been thrown down by a stomach flu which came on last Thursday and still won't completely let go. Sorry to miss the gymnastics clinic, and throwdown, and even my Friday lifting workout for that matter. Rip would say I had no excuse, since my dog has not died, but since I get dizzy lifting even when not sick, as Joe P can attest, I cannot imagine that being nauseous as well as light headed would actually improve my back squat.

Angela: you need to learn to appreciate delayed gratification. :)

I want more!

I learned that you don't have to actually be Asian to be on Team Asia, as long as you're sleeping with one, everyone will accept you! Thanks Guys!
But seriously, I learned that we have a Great Team at CFO and a lot of strong competitors. If we won everything, every time, we wouldn't see where we need improvement, even T.O. has bad games. Now we know, and now we'll be even better than ever!

belated happy birthday connie. hope it was a great one.

congrats to all who participated yesterday.

brandon and p-hole i would tell you not to be so tough on yourselves, except that i think you don't want to hear it, and that's what makes you such fierce competitors.

Here are my insights:

19 minutes is the new 20 minutes.
Candace can row a lot faster than most men that outweigh her by 50 or more pounds.
Mini has a soft spot in his heart for disco.

For your enjoyment, I have just under 50 pictures from the competition. They can be found at:

The anti-spam "feature" on the blog makes the baby Jesus cry. I vow to do something to remedy that. I just had a marvelously witty post that was eaten. Rather than recreate it, I will just post a link to to the pictures I took from the competition yesterday:

For f*ck's sake, that's now two comments that have been intercepted by the spam catcher.

Okay, I am breathing deeply and going for a third try. Here are some pictures from yesterday's competition:

Okay. I'm totally confused. I thought we weren't supposed to leave anything on the floor, but now I'm reading Mike's post and thinking that I'm supposed to leave it all on the floor? I'm trying to follow coaching instructions, but I'm getting mixed signals here. Amazing job, everyone. You people blow my mind with your strength and heart. I'm lucky to be part of such a stand-up crew.

TomC, the man, the legend. As CFSV's Matt was dragging his exploded hamstring out of the competition area, TomC leapt OVER the police tape, executed a back handspring to avoid a swinging kettlebell, and landed in perfect position to begin his clean and bust out some 135-lb thrusters, all the while taking pictures of himself, in MANUAL mode! Poetry in motion. I can't believe the Justin TV feed had already been taken down. TomC, sir, we are not worthy.

Tom's "rescue" performance happened just the way Joe said.

There were many great performances yesterday: in fact every team there, whether doing the prescribed weight or not whether they finished in 20 min or not, gave it all they had. I was proud of everyone. Notable performances:

Audra and Connie doing thrusters at 95#. Amazing.

New CFOers Joseph, Travis, and Aaron giving it UP.

The only kid there, Alex T, giving up his aversion to messing up his hair or shoes and getting gritty and leaving himself on that rower. Makes a mother proud!

Good job everyone!

Lyd: However you get the Asian in you. It's all good.

Sierra- I (we) are lucky to be a part of you!!!! You are amazing!

Tom,looks like the spam catcher ate your posts and them vomited them all back onto the blog. Thanks for the pics and way to be Tom by stepping up at the competition!

You guys were all amazing. Looking forward to joining you someday soon:)

One name none of you should forget: Trystan.

He put himself through the ringer and did his portion of the workout as prescribed. For those of you that don't know him, he's one of the newer beasts at cfo. Expect big things.

congrats to all!

First off - Alex - sorry for pushing you out of the way when I had to smack ass. Very rude.

And now Trystan - 20 reps of 135# thruster in the first minute. wow.
