San Francisco CrossFit Article

SF Weekly published a not-so-flattering piece on San Francisco CrossFit a couple days ago.

If you've ever trained with Kelly or any of the other SFCF coaches, please go over and leave a comment on the SF Weekly article regarding your experience, so that we can add a little balance to this piece.

***Friday-Sunday Schedule Reminder***

Just a quick reminder, we're running a limited schedule this Friday and Saturday. Sunday will be back to normal in terms of weekend scheduling.

Friday, July 3: 9am, 10am, 4pm, 5pm
Saturday, July 4: 9am, 10am (no 4pm)
Sunday, July 5: 9am, 10am, 4pm (normal weekend schedule)

Tomorrow's WOD (7/3/09)

As a 2-person team:

20 Rounds for Time:

5 Pull-Ups
10 Push-Ups
5 Thrusters @ 135#/95#

One person does the pull-ups and push-ups while the other does the thrusters for five rounds. Then they switch for the next five rounds (the person doing the pull-ups and push-ups now does thrusters, and vice-versa). At the conclusion of this workout, each person will have done 10 rounds of pull-ups, push-ups, and thrusters.

this article is the biggest fairytale i've ever seen.

Wow...that article sucked! So many CFSF people are up in arms.... Rightly so.... Where's TomC to write an ever-so-eloquent rebuttle to that article?

Oooohh..a WOD I can do with my injured-self! YAY!

Hi Everyone -

I read the unfortunate article. Crossfit isn't for everyone.

Any way, I just want to tell the community, I wore my "minus one" shirt today for the first time. Washing my hands in the sink, looking into the mirror, scared the hell out of me! Mini is following me everywhere! Kinda spooky.

Bad Brad-
Can you email me, your email address doesn't show up under your name? Thanks!

Ann, just for you, I lent my voice to the chorus of people decrying the article. I, of course, commended the author on a job well done and added some of my own insights about how CrossFit is evil and perhaps the cause of natural disasters.

*******NO O-LIFITNG SUNDAY SESSIONS THIS SUNDAY OR NEXT SUNDAY*************

WE WILL NOT BE MEETING THIS SUNDAY BECAUSE OF THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND OR NEXT SUNDAY BECAUSE OF THE THE GAMES. EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE AND FUN WEEKEND AND SUPPORT OUR ATHLETES NEXT WEEKEND AT THE GAMES! SEE YOU AT THE RANCH!

TomC: Good job...I had to filter thru all that to find your ever-so-positive yet lovingly sarcastic comment! Two words: YOU ROCK! Thanks for making me laugh a little each day.. :)

woah! what a slanderous article! Another example of how our modern era's ubiquity of publishing channels coupled with an endless supply of information, often from dubious or unverifiable sources, has made for lazy reporting and writing.

Anyway I have passed the midway point of my cycling season, and thought i would send a quick update. The season has been quite a roller coaster for me, speckled with some podium results, injuries and illness. I believe im on the up swing now and am looking forward to the next few months.
Yesterday I had an awesome time trial here in fitchburg - unfortunately today i got caught up in a crash today so any GC hopes are gone.
As i licked my wounds in the back of the pack knowing my race was over, I wondered about the point of it all- And then I saw i could help my team. I dug deep and came back to do a critical bit of work for our sprinter- who eventually won the race.
As i rolled across the finish line and over to medical to get my wounds cleaned I felt...happy. being part of a team is an amazing feeling.

I am excited to follow everyone at the games- as in some ways i feel just a little part of that team as im sure many of you do.

Good luck everyone and remember never look back, the race is always in front of you!

Stacy,

Thanks for the update! Keep the rubber side down.
