Cooking Lesson's with Lance
Lance and Benny (who grilled a mean tri-tip) at work.
Yesterday afternoon we convened around the stove and cutting board to watch and learn from Lance as he worked his magic in the kitchen! Over the course of three hours we learned to cook (and then ate):
- A Poached Chicken/Chicken Stock
- Roasted Japanese Sweet Potato
- Chipotle Braised Romando Beans in Adobo Sauce
- Broccoli and Chick Pea Hash
- Baked Late-Summer Chunky Tomato Sauce
- Chimihurri
- Herb Infused Tri-Tip Roast
Lance took us through all phases of preparation and cooking all the while offering up tips and suggestions for food prep along with basic cutting techniques, tools to have on hand, oil usage, oven temperatures etc. It was an excellent afternoon of good food and essential information, we all came away armed with recipes (all converted to Zone proportions) to contemplate and try ourselves. If more people are interested we will schedule another class before year end--let us know in comments and we'll get to work on a date!
Learn to cook quick and simple recipes for healthy living and better Crossfitting!

t is on the main site.
The video of Tamara on the main site is awesome. Legit. Strong. Gave me goose bumps. I love that they ended it with you in slow motion, hitting that lift like it was weak sauce... Go Tamara... and I think one of the first things you hear in the video is Lydia "Go T!" So much heart we have... Go CFO!
Oh... and on a less dramatic note (or possibly more), yes I need to learn to cook. Seriously, it's urgent! Daniel and I are losing weight daily!! If Lance has another instructional class or even an instructional video that I can order at 3am for $19.99, I am all over it.
Lance is a god. Candace, milk is the answer.
Candace - I'd be happy to review my weight gain strategies and tactics with you and Daniel. It's really quite simply and can be fun!
Let me know.
Instead of GOMAD, do what Richard and I do QOICAD (Quart of Ice Cream a Day) Same calories, better taste, more weight gain :D
Nice to know such a large fraction of donations go to the cause.

I'm down for the next one.
Either I am getting soft or something Candace said was actually funny! I admit I smiled at the thought of you purchasing a cooking video for $19.99 @ 3am, I'm not sure why. I also have the perfect cure for your atrophying muscles. Nicole says she has one at home if you would like to borrow it :)

i'm down for some tutelage as well
I'm pretty bummed I missed Lance's cooking lesson. Please have another one soon.
Who's that girl next to Nicole in the photo?
Tutelage is a funny word.
Don't worry fellas, there's also a Shake Weight for men:

If it weren't for everything that Lance has taught me about cooking I'd still be eating pasta out of teacups every night. Seriously, pasta for dinner, every single day, wihout fail. I remember the first time Lance saw me work my pasta-making magic. The look of horror as he watched me rinse the cooked linguine under hot water... let's just say that I learned a lot about how not to cook that day. He's also a gifted teacher & really funny in the kitchen; definitely in his element. Plus, he's so cute!
Candace, you're adorable. Your posts always make me laugh.
Tutelage sounds a little naughty.
Tutelage, in the proper hands, can be very naughty.
yeah, Candace, I'm done with it, and besides it will save me a trip to T's to return it.
Really, you should have included a warning label on the link because I ended up laughing hysterically for five minutes and had to re-watch the slow-mo section a couple of times. Thank god for CFO, otherwise I would be too diligent at work.
I knew it!
No way can I last 6 minutes.
:(
I was there this AM...
You are an amazing artist. I chopped onions just like you taught to day - it was actually fun.
I checked with the wife, and we're happy to host the next time (as long as it's after Nov 14). We're in the Oakland Hills (off Joaquin Miller exit at 13), and have tons of parking at our place, and a big kitchen/living room/bar for cooking/eating/discussing.
So sorry I missed this one, and so sad that Lance doesn't cook for us anymore... :-)
Thanks again to Benny, Franklin, Lance and Nicole for making Sunday happen! I already made the romano beans and broccoli, chick pea hash. :)
