Team CFO and Masters Workouts
Team CFO
Starting this year, we're putting together a year-round CFO team with the intent of maximizing our chances of doing well in the team competition at each year's CF Games (and the various competitions leading up to the Games--which seem to be ever-changing in format and layers of competition). The members of the team will be engaging in regular team workouts throughout the year, competing in affiliate throwdowns whenever they can, and in general busting their tails to represent CFO.
The following women and men are part of Team CFO.
Women:
Tamara
Candace
Polly
Lydia
Journey
Men:
Brandon
Manwell
Daniel
Dave K
Connor
Raphael
Freddy
The following six people, three men and three women (the max number of people we can take), will be going down to Irvine on May 8-9 to compete at the Regionals:
Brandon
Manwell
Daniel
Tamara
Candace
Polly
Updated Masters Info
They've now posted all three Masters workouts for the Regionals (take note, Steve P!). The first two will take place on Friday, May 7; the third will take place on Saturday, May 8.
Full workout details are here: http://games2010.crossfit.com/blog/2010/04/masters-workouts-announced-all-regionals/
The workouts are a classic combo: a short, high-power metcon (Helen with double-unders instead of runs), a 1rm effort, and a long bodyweight-only metcon (Cindy with chest-to-bar pull-ups).
Should be fun!

steve p lets run the masters event this weekend to put you to the test.
Sounds like a plan Joseph. Still need to get those double unders down...it's a coordination thing, something that's eluded me since youth. Will be doing the 6 pm class tomorrow and 9 am on Sat & Sun.
lets hit event 1 and 2 tomorrow at 6.
Any chance we can get some photos of Team CFO?
The good thing about double unders is they're just a learned skill... it's not like you have to deadlift 500 pounds to get 'em. The bad thing about them, though, is that they're a skill... and you don't have 'em till you have 'em. But you never know when that skill will kick in! Practice, practice, practice and if I can help you out, let me know... although it sounds like Joseph's got it covered.
So glad you're representing CFO Steve!!!
Candace that was motivational advice that only a level II coach could give!
Joseph teaching double-unders?
What's next, running tips from Tami?
Thanks Candace, I'll keep hammering away at it. Have gotten lots of helpful advice, but like muscle ups a year ago, I'm still at the "centipede trying to think about how to walk" stage. Enough practice and the brain will shut up and we'll just do it.
If you teach DUs anything like you teach muscle ups, I'm all eyes and ears. The way you coached us at the Saturday MU clinic you held last spring turned the key for me. Thanks again for all your support!
And Steve D, go easy on Joseph, his DUs are pretty damned good ;-)
I'm just jealous I'm not his favorite "Steve" anymore :(
Steve-
There is plenty of time to learn them. I practiced everyday for 10 minutes (set a watch) and after a week, I got them (not beautiful but sufficient), it just takes you putting in the effort. I'm not much of a teacher but I can show you how I did it and I will also volunteer Tami to show you what she showed me- it really helped. You'll have them by next weekend if you practice everyday until then, they won't be like Brandon's, but you'll have them nonetheless. See you tonight at 6!
Also, great job yesterday pushing through on that wod, you will be great representation for CFO at the regionals!
Steve, you will totally get them. Tami got me mine - I had that little hop in the middle and she said "Stop doing that!" and I did 'cuz I knew she would hurt me if I didn't.
They have posted a video on range of motion, type of jump rope, etc.
Steve D - you're still his favorite, he's just taken pity on the older white guy that can't jump.
Robyn - great point, maybe Tami will threaten me too since I called her the "Queen of Mean" for one of her Mikey b'day posts.
Lydia - thanks! we'll get it eventually.
That's good! You volunteering to be the rope?
rimshot for steve d. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yl3UMO-TkE
There are two Steves?!?
Just kidding, Steves.
Steve P, careful you don't over-work your calves by practicing double-unders. I strained one of mine pretty bad the day that I learned how to do double-unders (think, 1.5 hours of double-unders). I think Lydia's 10min bit is pretty smart.
It can happen.
I want to wish our team peeps the best of luck down in SoCal.
there are two steve's but only one steven
you might see me down in SoCal just to heckle team CFO woot woot
Steven, you are missed at CFO. Come back to us.
Got your back, Conn
thanks for the shout out robyn. i'm late wishing mike a happy birthday. our team looks disturbingly strong and i'd be willing to place a wager that we're going to take back the affiliate crown.
