CrossFit Oakland Uptown will be hosting a very cool certification seminar on Saturday Oakland 19th – Primal Move will be here offering their Fundamentals Course from 9am – 6pm. Registration details can be found here.
Q: Primal Move? What is that and what does it have to do with CrossFit?
A: Pretty much everything.
If you haven’t read this or read it in awhile, check out CrossFit Journal #1. Here is what it has to say about movement:
Crossfit is a strength & conditioning system built on constantly varied, if not randomized, functional movements executed at high intensity. Our world is naturally full of movements.
Our standing, sitting, throwing, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, running, & of course, punching are all quite natural. They got us where we are. They are part of our design. These natural, primal movements influence the exercise included in CrossFit’s workouts.
We call it functional training.
Crossfit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of the ten recognized fitness domains. Cardiovascular & respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance & accuracy.
At CrossFit Oakland we respect progressions and that all of our movements start at the beginning. Because of this respect and our commitment to proper movement and fundamentals, we are partnering with Primal Move to host this cert. We encourage anyone who is interested to sign up. Register here or email us with any questions.

We know that life is movement! First and foremost, we should be able to
move our own bodies! Before we grab any type of weight, jump on any
machine or take any pills, we should be able to handle our body – just as
well as we did when we were lile kids. Just imagine if you could move
again with a smile on your face! Primal Move Fundamentals is our
FUNdamental division in Primal Move. We will take you through
hundreds of fun, safe and challenging exercises, so you could learn to
simply move again, well!
