Uptown’s own Sterling has graciously offered to hold a weekly yoga class at CrossFit Oakland Uptown on Sundays at 9am, starting this Sunday January 12th!
If you are wondering what Yoga has to do with CrossFit, take a look at this article from Tabata Times: 10 Reasons Why CrossFitters should start practicing Yoga.
Here is more from Sterling about himself, his style and what to expect from these Sunday classes:
Sterling wants everyone in the world to feel good and have fun! He leads an upbeat, 60 minute vinyasa yoga class focusing on the connection between the mind and the body. Combining basic yoga poses, also know as asanas, he creates a dynamic body experience allowing his students to slow down and care for their bodies using gentle strengthening and stretching postures. Sterling completed his 200-hour Pranaflow yoga teacher training with Coral Brown in Carmel, CA in 2012. Never tried yoga before? Now is the perfect time to try! Curious what to expect?!? Well, yoga is all about connecting the body with the breath, so there will be lots of breath work. There will also be some serious stretching, some light strengthening and core work…and probably a little sweating. The focus during his yoga class is to have fun, take care of your body and feel good well into your golden years!
Classes are open to CFO members and are free for the month of January, after that the classes will be donation-based. Be sure to bring a water bottle, towel and yoga mat with you!
Many thanks to Sterling for graciously agreeing to offer this class and to Lance for coordinating.
