One week from today, on Saturday March 1st, we’ll be running everyone through the first workout of the CrossFit Games Open! Here’s what you need to know about the Open at CFO.
These Workouts are Fun, and Doable, and Will Push You to the Limit
The whole Open process is such a blast. It runs for five consecutive weeks, and each workout gets released on Thursday night at 5pm PST. We then get a ton of you together on Saturday mornings, counting reps for one another, cheering for one another, and getting inspired by the performances of your fellow CFOers. A lot of people do things they didn’t think was possible, a lot of people get first-time PRs, and others just plain crush the workouts. If you haven’t yet registered for the Open, do it! You won’t regret it, I promise. You should especially do this if you’re on the fence. We’ll guide you through the whole process and make sure that you’re set up to give it your all when it comes time to do your workout.
When you register, make sure you register as part of Team CFO if you train primarily at our Emeryville facility, and register as part of CrossFit Oakland Uptown if you train primarily at Uptown. The cost is $20, which is a small price to pay for five workouts over five weeks.
We’re One Big, Happy Family
We’ll be running everyone through heats on Saturdays at our Emeryville location. This applies whether you train at Emeryville or at Uptown. Just like in the CrossTown Throwdown with CF Sweat Shop last year, and with the CrossFit Total, it’s just so much more fun when we can get everyone together from the two gyms.
Saturday Heats get Started at 10am
Each Saturday, the first heat will get kicked off at 10am. We’ll run as many heats as we need to in order to get everyone through the workout. Each Friday on the CFO blog (and on FB), we’ll post the heat schedule, so that you’ll know exactly when you’ll be going. And just like last year, everyone who participates will be responsible for judging one heat of competition as well. We’ll have judging assignments as part of that same Friday blog post, too.
Because you’ll know exactly when you’re going, it will allow you to plan your warm-up and movement prep accordingly. We’ll be running group classes on Saturdays at 8am and 9am, so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare for your workout if you’re going in the first few heats of the day.
No 10am Class or Competition Class
During the five weeks of the Open, there will be no 10am class or Competition class. Both classes will resume after the Open finishes.
